28/7/2004 13:53 | Kael, No, FWIW, I deliberately left it out - because it's not easy to see, in this turgid market, where the price will be by an ex-div date some way out, although I'm assuming the price will rise as short-termers come in for the special divi. Like you, I'm bullish and long-term on SGI, and what I was saying was that even w/o the special divi it's worth a trading punt at this price. | ![]() don carter
28/7/2004 11:57 | "Also a long-term holder and am tempted to add at this price...very good chance of 10% gain within 2 weeks, and decent chance of 25%! IMHO." Have you factored in the possible dividend into that? (didn't think so ;) ) I would say the divi redistribution will happen within a month. They would have had since July to begin preparation - all is needed is a date (and possible EGM?) | ![]() kael
28/7/2004 11:50 | Does anyone have an idea on when the dividend distribution is likely to happen? Provided the results are good, I can see the distributed cash being funneled back into SGI stock. I agree with Nurdin's comments re broker upgrades. These sort of things induce value screeners in. | ![]() shuisky
28/7/2004 11:40 | Also a long-term holder and am tempted to add at this price...very good chance of 10% gain within 2 weeks, and decent chance of 25%! IMHO. | ![]() don carter
28/7/2004 11:05 | Am a long term holder and not tempted to sell.Too cheap even at current levels. The interims will reinforce their unique position in a large and growing market and more importantly will show how the internet is helping to accelerate profit growth...expect brokers to revise their forecasts after the interims. All imho. | ![]() nurdin
28/7/2004 10:54 | Time for a bit of patience imo, we knew the mm's were short we can now see they've covered. Interims in two days, if you were an mm and thought you may be hit with buying at the end of the week, what would you do in the middle? Normal behaviour, they're just trying to create a market remember! | ![]() kael
28/7/2004 10:49 | Very small volume, most people are sitting on their hands !!! I would have thought anybody buying recently would have bought with the interims in mind, so unlikely to get out now. Longer holders sitting on big profits might lose their nerve, but they know the story, so wouldn't expect too many of them to jump ship either. Top-up opportunity !!! | ukhawk
28/7/2004 10:34 | Comdirect: 110.24 Offer price: 15K @ 90.75 Bid price: 15K @ 89.32 Mid: 90 Figures suggest that MMs have balanced their float - Increased NMS and very tight spread for SGI. Tree shaking like this is very profitable for MMs as the 'unknowlegeable' investors fall out. My guess: they will probably leave it down if they can to see if more fall out early tomorrow, prior to raising it back up tomorrow afternoon in time for interims. Unless, of course, the mopper-upper at 70p is now selling... Such amusing diversions are days made of... | ![]() xdavid
28/7/2004 10:16 | LOL! Glad to see they still have some stock left though... They have so many recently new 'income streams' that it will be interesting to see which one has performed the best. I'll hardly know where to look first in the prelim report... | ![]() xdavid
28/7/2004 10:02 | ukhawk, shouldn't be hard to shake out punter since it's had the dreaded IC tip, and must be full of weak holders. I confess this is something of an obsession with me, but you need to dfollow these things, unfortunately. | ![]() shuisky
28/7/2004 02:31 | Looks like the investment wing is going well as Gibbons has sold their investment opportunity: | ![]() kael
27/7/2004 20:24 | and a good price for prvd, at least in the short term. | ![]() nuttynige
27/7/2004 18:42 | I've been out all day but was expecting a "shake" before the results on friday. Don't really think this is/was it though, as it seems to be based on 2 sells of 15k and 13.5k. Take out the special divi and these are still dirt cheap. World leading brand, huge growth potential, etc, etc. | ukhawk
27/7/2004 14:49 | Comdirect: 14.29 Offer price: 15K @ 93.5 (-1) Bid price: 25K @ 90.85 (-0.78) Mid: 92 (-1) I've actually been pleasantly surprised that there has not been more people caught in the trap of thinking, "I missed the opportunity to sell in April at this price - better sell now." I was actually expecting quite a bit of selling at this level. Ok, the upcoming interims might be keeping people in just now with the thought of selling into the results in which case even a good set of results might not stop a blip down. But... this is all commonly known as 'noise'. The fact is that unless SGI's results are plainly decrepit, the inexorable growth in earnings just overtakes any temporary profit taking. Heck, we've just added more than 30% onto the price since the recent low in May! | ![]() xdavid
27/7/2004 14:25 | Well, mm's appear to have gotten stock to square up the books imo. Sells hardly affected the price and again SGI showing good strength into interims. | ![]() kael
27/7/2004 11:35 | Comdirect: 11.27 Offer price: 15K @ 94.5 (upped NMS and price -0.5) Bid price: 25K @ 91.63 (price -0.87) Mid: 93 Possibly just a temporary loosening of the spread..? | ![]() xdavid
26/7/2004 18:06 | They seem to be happy selling above the online NMS @ 95p if you go via a phone order. They are just nervous of being suddenly hit online for a lot of buys and unable to react quick enough. Understandable given SGI's results for last few years. I still make recent trading net buying after today. | ![]() xdavid
26/7/2004 16:07 | Well it doesn't look like the mm's will make any more stock available online before friday's results. Anything they pick up in the next few days they'll sell with a nice mark-up on friday. | ukhawk
26/7/2004 08:27 | Comdirect: 08.24 Offer price: 3.75K @ 95 Bid price: 25K @ 92.5 Mid: 93 | ![]() xdavid
23/7/2004 18:16 | Excellent volume - and it started so quietly this morning! | ![]() xdavid
23/7/2004 16:48 | Looks like there was a last minute rush to buy.Wouldnt surprise me if they are tipped in the weekend press..now that would be nice | ![]() nurdin
23/7/2004 16:40 | Yes, looking very promising for next week. Steady buying on a bad day for the markets, even though stock not available online. | ukhawk
23/7/2004 16:36 | Great week for SGI imo, shown good strength - keep an eye out for reported after market trades, roll on next week :) | ![]() kael
23/7/2004 15:00 | Comdirect: 14.58 Offer price: 1.5K @ 95 Bid price: 25K @ 92.5 Mid: 93 | ![]() xdavid
23/7/2004 14:15 | Can only get 1.5k @95p online now. Sell 25k over 92p ! | ukhawk |
