What an easy short
Spirent Communications surged 8.5% after Goldman Sachs upgraded the telecommunications equipment tester to neutral from underperform and removed the stock from its European sell list.

The broker told clients that the company's return potential is now in line with the sector but said it continues to believe Spirent will struggle to growth as its customers merge. Finally Goldman said it thinks consensus expectations for revenue growth and margin expansion in 2007 are overly ambitious.

Excellent volume of shares traded today at 84.089 million representing just short of 9% of the total shares in issue. It will be interesting to see who has been acquiring them.
