I reduced by about 75% some five or so weeks ago at about 39.25p to protect what was then a much reduced but still a profit and have been just watching and waiting since.
I hope to return but see no prospect of an upturn just yet. Used some of the proceeds to buy ARM at 103.25p a couple of weeks ago - so far OK.

* Goldman Sachs has upgraded its ratings for Spirent and Colt Telecom to neutral from sell. (citywire)

26.07.06 :+1.5, (35) upgraded to 'neutral' from 'sell' at Goldman Sachs this morning saying that it believed the absolute return potential was now in line with the sector and it saw 15% potential upside to its price target of 40 pence, dealers said. In a note to clients, Goldman Sachs said that it continued to believe that Spirent would struggle to grow as its customers merge, and its 2007 EBIT forecast remained approximately 20% lower than consensus.

Wher have all the "we love spirent" crowd gone to?

Fidelity's recent history of buying and selling this share has proved they don't know any more than anybody else. They did manage to dump a shedload on Deutsche Bank but not at the gain they would have hoped for.

SPT would now be sub 30p but for share buybacks I think

They are heading for a bigger loss than many are expecting

SPT management are throwing shareholders money down the drain

Markets are heading lower

biswell - 3 May'06 - 13:17 - 579 of 644 edit

I expect SPT management will be buying back at around 30p then .... they will get more bang for their bucks by so doing

Problem with wasting cash on buy backs is when they stop

EG Check out NFDS and see what happened when they ended theirs

Buy Backs mean the management realise they have a share problem , and folks are wanting out. So they puff some smoke out ... to make the problem go away
