There’s no RNS so let’s see what the day holds. Could be nothing, could be smoke before the fire.

Nope, average volume on TSX is 34,896 over the past 10 days. It's just too thinly traded to allow any indication of something happening.

There were only 47k shares traded on TSX. The low volume often causes price anomalies. Nothing to see here.

Could be nothing and Canadian Brokers playing games, or could be insiders buying low liquidity stock.

Last time it spiked was Friday, and Monday was RNS. But this spike is big.

I want BHP bid now!

There’s a reason I topped up today and it was the fact the seminar got pushed back from tmrw to next week. This was for a reason!

NMs next strategic move. Having been unable to raise his drilling cash by trying to pump the shares - and now that Alpala is coasting along, but with no chance of delivering any cash in the medium term or of being taken out - NM's only other option is to invite in partners to farm in to the other exploration prospects. That might release the share price to fly again sooner than otherwise, which will outweigh whatever dilution is suffered. Perhaps NM should bow to the inevitable and admit that, as things are, he's got more than he can chew.

"....HATS off to SolGold chief executive Nick Mather for keeping at bay the ambitions of BHP and Newcrest to acquire SolGold with its monster Alpala copper-gold porphyry project in northern Ecuador on the cheap, writes Barry FitzGerald."

The good news is i am sure NM will be asked about the permit situation and what 3 sites have permits .

To be fair mk, these sorts of problems are why Ecuador is not already a major mining power. SOLG new about these issues at the start. The law is on their side, as proven by the court cases. Trouble is, as we saw last year, the central government can't afford to upset the local tribes or they will be overthrown. They had to evict the previous official granting permits because they were siding with the locals. Looks like the replacement official is scared to upset the locals and probably for good reason.

On the latest presentation, the first three listed project slides in order are: Rio; Timbara; Porvenir...

Rio says "Drilling planned for 2020."

I'm guessing the three permits are: Chalanes; Varela; Palomar...

Lefrene, I suspect it's more to do with tribal unrest and the government not wanting to upset them. That's been the subject of the court cases and the near revolution last year. A lot of the locals take exception to the central government granting rights over their land and it can become very messy.

mknight, it does seem odd that drill permits are withheld when the government claims it's keen to encourage mining. I can't help but speculate that it might be the age old problem of palms waiting to be greased?
