Thanks guys. Agree with DD about conglomerates which is why I'd prefer, if it came to it, a more focused suitor like Barrick than BHP. Also would reduce the recurring problem of how to finance the massive exploration effort required - worries about dilution etc which seem to concern many and thus hold back the share price of Solg.

Despite lockdown , I feel pretty good about this evolving drama.

NM has frequently cited Fortescue as an example he wishes Solgold to follow, from inconsequential minnow to £50 Billion giant. All this heated hyped up speculation regarding possible JV`s and take overs promulgated by make a fast buck johnnies. Warren Buffet and many other highly successful investors all agree that the really big successes are made by the patient investor prepared to back their judgement. NM knows what he has at Alpala and is confident he can fund its development to production independently. Why then would anyone suppose that other projects such as Porvenir and Rio Amarillo, if they prove equal to or better than Alpala, could not be funded on the same independent basis as Alpala. Plenty of Royalty companies, smelters and mining finance institutions would be delighted to finance projects that would, as NM has stated, pay back handsomely in three to four years. I`m happy to be patient and wait a few years for Solgold to transition into a world major with several tier 1 assets on its books or in production. Bad news for all fast buck merchants hoping for a quick profit on a takeover scenario. Serious money will only be made by patience and 100% support for Solgold to remain independent and trust in NM and board to achieve that goal.

So how can Solg create maximum value for its shareholders?

As has been said here already, Solg is rapidly approaching the point where it has too many potentially viable projects on its plate. The risk is that it will not be accorded the full value it should by the market. FWIW I think this is where we are now. In short, 5 + 2 + 1 = 5 instead of 8.

So what to do? The 100% owned Carnegie Ridge subsidiary, in northern Ecuador has the Blanca, Rio Amarillo and Chical priority prospects. Another subsidiary, Green Rock resources, in southern Ecuador has the Porvenir, Cisne loga, Sharug, Celen and Timbara prospects. Each company has a package of assets that many exploration companies could only dream about. And each will need substantial funds to prove up their prospects. If each had a separate existence (with a substantial Solg shareholding) and could be valued by the market as such, I think value would out. Existing solg shareholders should be given some shares and the opportunity to subscribe for more shares in each too.

With NMs promised shock and awe drilling campaign, perhaps such an option will become more concrete within the next few months.

I'm sure Rouge, DD and others will know more about the mechanics and scope of this kind of corporate action than me and I would be interested to hear from them.

zoros - you are right that Solg has now become too big for NM to handle - unless he hives off part of it. History is littered with examples where his over-ambitious likes have been "swamped by events, dear boys, events". As for the AGM I'm not going or looking. Nothing is ever clarified at them that is not RNS'd beforehand

This is what is holding share back , whole projects much too big for one company.
Know NM stated going to production no j/v but its now damaging share price.
Got to share out the cake. NM knows this. Sure plans are afoot.

MK - who would do the 'forcing'? Where does this conspiracy theory come from?
Porvenir is currently a side showe - admittedly a biggish side show but NM has other priorities too.
As I said before. Solg is becoming too big for its boots now. Alpala/Porv/Rio/others.
He must be realising that he has only so much capacity to cope. So why not dice and slice. Less to worry about and all the money he could ever wish for to pursue the remainder. Question is......which part does he sell and when?
Z
Porv will take atleast another year to prove up.

Depends how quick he thinks he could get Porvenir up and running . And weather he has been forced todo a deal or his head would roll .
