spoke to CH, merger talks not going well, he needs them, they dont need him! still thinks it will go ahead although will be a long drawn out saga of which we are in the very early stages.
Will forget it for a while, keeping it on my watchlist although will know in advance of any good or bad news.

Hi croc, really looking forward to tomorrow ....

I admire all your (croc, bullshares etc ....) trading so much. recently, I have been seeing the logic in mikes trading, and even find some of the same entry points. Just keep cutting profits, as well as losses ....

theoretically, a difficulty of intraday trading in a trending market is that a sequence of covers is just buying at lower levels, thus reverse pyramiding ...

sure, my recent losses are small (tight stops), but the profits could have been exceptional.

this is what I have run into.

morning ..... market looks grim to me ....

set for a big crash in us soon I think. All my shorts should have been kept open.

intraday trading is not the way to win big in this market, it seems good short term positions must be held overnight.

any views?

Smiths Group: Smiths<SMIN.L> posted weaker full-year profits on Wednesday and said it was not counting on any near term improvements in its biggest market, the United States. They posted operating profits for continuing activities of 452 million pounds, within market expectations,  but down nine percent on last year, as sales fell to 3.07 billion largely due to the downturn in civil aerospace. They said "We are not counting on near-term market improvements, particularly in the U.S, where we generate half of our revenues." Barratt Development:  Posted a 23 percent rise in yearly pre-tax profits and said the booming housing market was set to continue. The housebuilder said pre-tax profits were 220 million pounds as record low interest rates fuelled a boom in the UK house market.Analysts had expected the company to post profits of between 199 and 206 million pounds. Chairman Frank Eaton said "We see volumes again increasing, from 12,250 to 13,300 this year, We expect selling price increases of five percent." There had been worries that Britain's housing market, fuelled by low interest rates would collapse. Pilkington: Said the difficult market conditions were set to continue as the glassmaker's major customers, carmakers and builders, cut orders in a global economic slowdown. "The outlook for the current year remains challenging," Laura Ashley: Sees H2 moderately better than 1 year ago. Teeps - In between opening and closing my bet it gave me some grief running back above £8 a few times. Think I'll count myself lucky and not try guessing where it's off to next :o)

Well pattern changed but still no position. Seems to be up first thing in the morning and likes the 750s as a closing point on volume. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

MTG - where do you see it going over the next week. Looking to get in short higher up but think there might be an inverted H&S patern on again, remebering that the one 2-3 days ago failed. Moving averages all going down so I think short is the position to have.

Still trying to decide if it's likey to breach 780p

It does seem to be bobbling around 720 now. I'm out for 63 pts. x stake. Happy with that.

Edit: Even more pleased having seen it recover 20p later.

Still short but only by default - tried to close late yesterday but got beaten by the bell. Serendipity rules again.

Watching Bloomberg this morning - shares likely to be impacted by Farnborough includes Smiths Group - especially some new walk thru' scanner for airports. Price may therefore bounce this week and perhaps attempt to get to the neckline again. Will be watching carefully on any retracement.

MTG - joined with a short today, guess it wasn't going to meet the neckline. Downwards & onwards. Target around 720p, eventually.

Seems a while since this thread was used. Is that an H&S which has completed and a retracement in progress back to the neckline which I have at around 814p?

Anyone have a position as yet - looking for a short as volume on the retracement is low versus the volume on the breakdown of this stock. Would prefer to get as close to the neckline as possible therefore might wait until tomorrow as have meetings this afternoon.

I've gone short today. Despite the short term strength the 3 year trend is still down and I am looking for this to resume.
