Closed out of too early LLOY short for -10, ouch! Well done foale for getting that 489. Don't know what's the matter with me - seem not to be reading the market so well at present, but I don't buy this Dow rally, well not for long anyway - think they'll use any up as an excuse to sell but what do I know, thought this morning was going to be a big sell off and sold my longs way too early for par on ISYS and +1.25 on GAA.

Better luck next time - now short AVZ at 325.75.

Byrdsong - Ive nver see a stocks share price go lower as the bid date gets closer always the toher way round as the risk has lessened. As yousaid risk/reqrd limited downside laods of upside will really tank.

techmark - completely agree with you on the TA of the indices (as I said yeasterday re Dow 7702). It has also perturbed me that the S&P has yet to catch its July low. There's more downside here. Today's rally also seems on thin volume for such a sharp rise. DCB is my conclusion and loooking to short anything approaching recent support breaks.

Lodger - brilliant result on TOX!!

bak on after a power cut - getting a generator fitted tomorrow!
Probably just as well as the break calmed me down. Still short TOX - chart gonna stay nice for some time yet.
I see a lot of FTSE sensitive stocks bouncing - but it was about time - lots of profit to be banked.
Mathewa- alread short SIV - agree with your observations.
I see SHC looking worse - next ones MMT and ITO?

Did you see the Newsflash the other day:

We have news coming in that an Eartquake - centred on Dudley - has been reported. Independent advisers are suggesting that this will lead to thousands and thousands of pounds worth of improvements !!

hol

taken a small bet on it

as u say risk reward good. The chart is showing classic saucer characteristic which could presage a big fall.

mms could be just nervous about result of due diligence and there is some selling by people who are worried too.

if there is a problem it'll hit the stock very hard and it wouldn't be the first time a bid doesn't go thru even at this comparitively late stage.

NTV - re Pilk - was short until this morning - announcement seems to have allayed fears of disasterous results. Level 2 built up strength not seen for the last week at least. Chart looks terrible, but dividend expectations are probably underpinning the price around these levels.
good luck if you're staying short

Well I may be wrong here, but I don't buy this rally and this is why.

Firstly the Dow closed at a new low of 7683 yesterday - In my view it would be unusal to just break the previous low of 7702 and then bounce higher.

The head and shoulders pattern on FTSE suggests a target of at least 3550 and the Dow target would be 7200.

Another strange thing is that all major indices have broken their July lows apart from the S&P 500 which remains above the 798 low.

The fact that this morning's bounce is a very steep one, suggests to me that it nothing more than short covering. Once the covering is over I would expect us to start moving lower again.

Going on holiday for two weeks this Friday so was looking for an exit.
