21.) AIS should always be in operation when ships are underway or at anchor. If the master believes that the continual operation of AIS might compromise the safety or security of his/her ship, or where security incidents are imminent, the AIS may be switched off. This might be the case in sea areas where pirates and armed robbers are known to operate. Unless it would further compromise the safety or security, if the ship is operating in a mandatory ship reporting system, the master should report this action and the reason for doing so to the competent authority.The master should however restart the AIS as soon as the source of danger has disappeared. If the AIS is shut-down, static data and voyage related information remains stored. Restart is done by switching on the power to the AIS unit. yep its a disgrace how we are kept in the dark here. it just really grates me how we are fed dates then these dates pass and no explanation is given. whats the odds we start cranking up some pressure then they issue another jam tomorrow rns just to shut us all up again for a few weeks.

VatnaBREAK give the rig spotting a BREAK lol.We don't know where it is or what's going on let's hope Sirius do the decent thing for once and give us some truth if it's delayed till June so be it just be honest and tell us where we stand least we deserve all the money we've pumped into this.

There has been no RNS confirming either the departure of the rig from UAE, nor of its arrival in Nigeria. I would have thought that it would not be unreasonable to expect an RNS upon either one of those events.

I think there are two points to make here:
1. Since the issue of the RNS there has been no evidence on the AIS system of a Heavy Load Vessel leaving the UAE area bound for Nigeria. It is unlikely that we have all (meaning all of us who are watching the AIS system) missed such a move.

2. There has been no AIS evidence of any activity in or near the Ororo location. Even if the Force is not transmitting an AIS signal, it is fairly sure that we would be able to pick up the HLV or other support vessels i.e. anchor handlers and/or supply ships, if there was anything going on there.

Conclusion: The COSLForce is still in the UAE area.

1alfiThe last COSL AR has their contract details in a nice graph. Id post it but im on mobile and cant find it atm.Has RAK GAS cotract running into Q2 from memory.We also had the slightly less reliable evidence of the two tugs towing what we believe* to be the Force to Dubai Dry Docks.*based on marine traffic AIS history giving the destination of one tug to be the COSL Force, which coincidentally happened to be an offshore oil and gas field. (Assumed to be RAK) Make of it what you will, id take this over the "drilling in Nigeria" status however.

Astral - According to the above statement from the COSL Annual report the service to UAE had been successfully provided by the 6th March, which would fit in with the Sirius 'hot rig' RNS

Also there is nothing in your post or minicris post that determines which website you are using to determine that the COSL force is still in UAE

So nothing to stop them issuing a “circumstances beyond our control, unavoidable delays” type update given that no drill bit will be turning before June. It’s the least we should expect.

Rig was contracted to RAK Gas just prior to Sirius' charter. This finished the start of April and even if it left the same day would only just be entering Nigerian waters let alone drilling. It would have been impossible to get the rig from UAE to Nigeria without there being an HLV (semi-sub heavy lift vessel) tracked on its journey. There are only a handfull of HLVs in the world and these are easily tracked on sites like Marine traffic, this includes an archive of their past journies. There are no HLVs within two weeks sailing now, so there is now a minimum of 5 weeks before a rig reaches Nigeria assuming one of the HLVs sets sail as we speak.

Those sites have been saying something similar since last summer, I'm afraid it ain't drilling, it can't be as it ain't set off from UAE yet.
The sites are best ignored.
