Not many buying pre divvi day tomorrow...Debatable corporate action in the buyback front with this lot buying the same amount daily (circa 1.8m) as opposed to all the others who stand back on a rise and save a days/few days worth for the rainy days like today to avoid larger downsides

Nice new batch of buybacks to exploit and price hitting strong levels has seen 8m & 20m of sales cramping our style around the 29 mark. Once these age out it will be interesting to see if going forward if the quieter months of summer lead us into a repeat of the 3 years on the bounce run up of 4 pounds between July & Nov (Brent was 50, 100 & 85 ish for the lose periods)

"Shell to Sell Singapore Oil Assets to Glencore-Indonesia JV"
Shell Plc has agreed to sell its Singapore refining and chemicals assets to a joint venture between commodity trader Glencore Plc and Indonesian company PT Chandra Asri Pacific.

As part of the transaction, Shell will transfer all of its interest in Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Singapore, which comprises refining and chemicals assets on Bukom and Jurong islands, to the JV, it said in a statement on Wednesday, which confirmed a Bloomberg News report from last week.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, although people familiar with the matter have said it could be worth about $1 billion.

Shell’s Singapore assets include a refinery capable of processing 237,000 barrels of oil a day, a facility on Jurong Island that produces monoethylene glycol and an ethylene plant on Pulau Bukom.

[Sharecast Broker Tips - Friday 4.33pm]

'RBC Capital Markets has raised its forecasts for Shell and kept an 'outperform' rating, saying the business was "firing on most cylinders" in the quarter.

"Over recent years, Shell has had a number of stellar quarters; however, in between these there have been a number of operational issues that have hampered performance," RBC said in a research note on Friday. "1Q results were evidence on what the business could look like if it was firing on most cylinders, and the result is higher CFFO [cash flow from operations] and FCF [free cash flow] than its US counterparts."

Shell reported adjusted earnings of $7.7bn, up from $7.3bn in the fourth quarter and some 20% ahead of consensus estimates, along with stronger-than-expected cash generation. However, RBC said investors should focus on operational data points which were "encouraging".

"In particular, LNG liquefaction volumes came in at the top end of guidance, while downstream availability was also strong. A key focus of the new management team has been to sweat the asset base harder, and it does appear there is evidence of operational momentum. How long will it last? Time will tell," said RBC, which has a 3,000.0p target price on the stock.
