09/4/2024 13:28 | Think about how stupid the average person is, then realise that 49 percent of the population is even more stupid. | craftyale
09/4/2024 13:16 | The last Budget extended the sunset by another year. And Labour is planning to remove the '90 per cent investment loophole'. Fine, they will learn a permanent high percentage of nothing is nothing. | nk104
09/4/2024 11:34 | CB @#4649: 'Would have said lower rate of CT but now we’re at 25% there’s little advantage over other counties now.' 'May 2022: Then-Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveils 25% windfall tax as oil and gas prices surge in the wake of invasion of Ukraine. Windfall tax due to end December 2025. Headline rate of 65%. November 2022: Jeremy Hunt unveils 10% hike to windfall tax and extends “sunset” to March 2028'. I don't see a case for Shell staying here, what with the legislating of punitive 'sin taxes' on oil and gas, which will become permanent and quite probably worse. How could any company consider a say 50-year project with tax policy turning on a dime every six months? 'Much better we import O+G from, er, often despotic regimes who don't give a damn about the environment etc than harvest our own, eh?.' | jrphoenixw2
09/4/2024 10:48 | From an share price number only perspective that's an all time high I believe. FWIW. | craftyale

09/4/2024 09:07 | Would have said lower rate of CT but now we're at 25% there's little advantage over other counties now. Certainly not enough to counter the socialist anti business (and mad dash to net zero) agenda over here. | chiefbrody
09/4/2024 08:26 | Remind me again of the case for shell to remain in socialist anti business basketcase Britain? | supermarky

09/4/2024 06:39 | Yes the beer in Britain is good but the entrepreneurial spirit in the U S is good also. As someone who holds dual citizenship I despair at the downward spiral here in the UK. Anyway here's to being positive, 20 mins to market open. Come on Shell.....29.....30. | craftyale
09/4/2024 06:33 | Basket case EU more like. They are having exactly the same problems as us, typical Remainer selective memory. | philby1
09/4/2024 06:27 | So shell may list in America. Brexit, damned Brexit. Goldman warned that Brexit could lead to the long term demise of London as the Worlds leading financial centre, as it has been for centuries. I see Spain are changing visa rules for UK ex pats as are other EU. countries. Another disaster, some like the thought of retiring these lovely countries, no longer sensible because of Brexit. As for taking back control of our borders, so popular with Brexit voters, ending freedom of movement. We now know that it means we are free to let millions in from elsewhere. Thanks Nigel and Boris. What a snake oil salesman Farage is. I see Trump wants him to be our Foreign secretary if he gets back to power. So much for taking back control, the thought of Trump appointing our ministers, Thank you Brexiteers for basket case Britain. | careful

08/4/2024 15:06 | Shell threatens to swap London listing for New York: London could be set to experience its biggest hit in the exodus of listed companies after Shell warned it may move its listing to the US. Wael Sawan, the boss of the largest company in the FTSE 100, said the oil giant was considering "all options" regarding listings. He said Shell's current undervaluation presented "a fantastic investment opportunity". “I will keep buying back those shares, and buying back those shares at a discount," he added. Sawan noted the discrepancy in valuation between Shell and US-listed oil groups like Exxon Mobil and Chevron. In a clear warning to the LSE, he said: "“If we work through the sprint, and we are doing what we are doing, and we still don’t see that the gap is closing, we have to look at all options.” | loganair
