Yes the workers work and pay our taxes and co tribute while a growing number of totally self centred selfish takers work the system at our expense - they do t care about cost of living rises or energy costs - they just get their dole / social security and allowances upped
I’ve seriously considered upping sticks but where to?

Endless hours have been spent imagining a world without oil as net zero looms decades in the future. In London, however, stock exchange chiefs face the prospect of a more immediate – and more worrying – oil crisis: life without Shell.Just two years after ditching the Dutch and delighting Britain's Brexiteers by moving to the UK, Britain's biggest company is now discussing leaving for New York.London, says chief executive Wael Sawan, is devaluing his company. It can't provide the capital, its politics are too turbulent and its taxes are too unpredictable. Just having a London address is pulling his share price down....Daily Telegraph

If they start ramping up the anti oil rhetoric when they come to power later this year, that can only hasten something major happening. Might not change much though from the current Tory anti business rhetoric.

Yup of course. But still, even if they are over value. Shell is under valued. 35 quid my new 6-12 month target (assuming things stay the same ish). If not, I'd expect further chatter re leaving London.

Most shares on the U.S. stock markets are over priced and over valued as their 401Ks by law have to be invested in the U.S. stock markets.

It seems to me reasonable to say the price of oil will only materially rise if Israel has a go at Iran which I don't think will happen if Iran just leaves the over night attacks at that.

Iran has said if Israel do not retaliate then the slate is wiped clean and Iran will make no further attacks on Israel.

I also see this from Invezz hxxps://invezz.com/news/2024/04/14/brent-crude-oil-price-analysis-after-irans-attack-on-israel/ who conclude that there is unlikely to be a material spike in the oil price tomorrow. We'll see...

Oil prices are poised to hit $100 a barrel by May, analysts have warned, as Saudi Arabia extends supply cuts.Rising geopolitical tensions and an extension to the Opec cartel's production curbs mean economists predict oil prices will surpass $100 for the first time since summer 2022. Bjarne Schieldrop, chief commodities analyst at SEB bank, said he expects the price of Brent crude, the global benchmark, will hit this threshold in either May or June.Mr Schieldrop said: "Towards the end of Q2, I think it's natural to assume that we'll see the price move towards the $100 mark." ..Daily Telegraph

I'm wondering when it comes to climate change, the real people in power and control are more worried about Global Cooling and not Global Warming???

Last night I happened to be looking at my local airports hourly temperatures since 1974 and something stood out like a sore thumb.

All years since 1974 (except for lock down 2020), the second half of Spring has just 1 or 2 days, during day light hours in the Temperature Comfortable range and the odd hour here and there, all the other days and hours are in the lower Cool temperature range.

However...the last 5 weeks of the 6 week first lock down during 2020 the second half of Spring when there was very little human activity, all day light hours were in the Comfortable temperature range while 80% of the night time hours were also in this range. I remember how sunny the time was and how my next door neighbour at 17.00 would sit out side in the sun for a couple of hours enjoying a glass of wine or two with his wife, has not been able to do so since or before.

Since 1989 at my local airport the lowest nightly temperature in each of the years has ranged between 0C and -3C (0C in 2020 the lock down year & -3C in 2022 the other years being -1C or -2C) The highest temperature recorded since 1974 at the airport was in 1983 followed by 2023, then 2003.

I can remember in the late 1970's and up to the mid 1980's all the talk was about, is the next ice age coming and looking back at documentaries this goes back to the early 1960's. Then suddenly Al Gore came a long and said it's all about global Warming and "I endorse this message," which by the way he's made many hundreds of millions of dollars out of.
