Make a tonne of money at all our expense. This is exactly why the UK markets are dying. Small shareholders always get mugged.

You are probably right. They took advantage of the Odey situation at the end of the day.

I wonder what the Patel's will do with it now.

RH, my reading of the votes is that the only votes against came from PI's. All the larger / institutional holders voted for the deal. Suggests to me that liquidity was the deciding factor.

Where did they get 632 million shares voting for ?

They only had 300 million shares committed at the last announcement.

MF, it is possible one or more of the hedge funds hold sufficient shares to either allow the bid to succeed or fail. If so, they could suggest to the Patels a willingness to support if only the bid were slightly higher. If a price can be agreed, they would need clearance from the panel for a higher offer to be made and the meetings could then convene. Naturally, any higher offer would apply to everyone. Pure speculation of course and there might be legal obstacles preventing such a move.

Vote probably delayed as dear Eric has locked himself in a broom closet at the sight of some angry PIs who made it to the meeting

A lot of investment companies have employees in Guernsey. Any of them interested in trading the result would send a representative. The lack of trading activity shows nothing is yet known.

Unless key individuals have been delayed on route, or the registrar is late checking the votes, the only other reason for a result to be pending is they are in negotiation to take the vote over the line.

When I went the fog set in, directors could not get their plane. They had to rough it on the ferry with me in cattle class.
To be fair had a decent with chat with Heber, a director out on the benches.

Those who bought shares pm Monday and Tuesday might want to attend if it was important to them

But who are you expecting to go to Guernsey for a meeting where you are hardly going to be welcome?

Was an investor from Guernsey when I went though. Maybe he is still around

I was expecting news to leak about 2 hours ago. There is no way a result is known and has not been traded against. The only plausible explanation is the meetings have not yet happened.
