29/3/2007 14:41 | Tempting to cash in on this rise - sounds like another rumour that may disappear into the ether. | wad collector
29/3/2007 14:39 | "the brewer could be a bid target of Heineken or Carlsberg". So its a quality rumour then. | blobby
29/3/2007 14:37 | Shares in Scottish & Newcastle gained almost 9% to the top of the blue chip leader board on talk the brewer could be a bid target of Heineken or Carlsberg. The shares added 47.25p or 8.9% to 578.25p, valuing the company (SCTN) at about £5.44 billion. One attraction for Heineken could be the Scottish & Newcastle's Russian business, but one analyst suggests that Carlsberg is a better fit. | sundan

16/3/2007 18:02 | p.s. - with all the buy out stories this week, I am surprised nothing has surfaced again for SCTN.... I also note we are up to another new recent high and there was a huge 6.5million shares ordinary trade end of day (.07% of all shares in issue). | jezboy1
16/3/2007 09:14 | Hi bob - nice to see u appear to get returns that most of us would dream of, given you would snub a 10% return.... wish I was living in your world. It is of note this closed the highest it has in a while yesterday, could be that the worm has finally turned? good luck all. | jezboy1

15/3/2007 09:05 | and you're happy with 10% in nearly a year?? best get yourself down to the post office. edit best readjust your figs as these seem to be heading for sub 500p. Lots of probs for this co which i can't make public but you're sure to find out soon. | bigbobjoylove
10/3/2007 18:33 | I have no idea whether BobaJob replied to my question as he is too filtered. However, I thought it worth pointing out that between his last post on here (31 May 06) and his unfortunate return (20 Feb 07) the SCTN share price increased from 495p to 552p (* Close price adjusted for dividends and splits) 'nuff said...? | coogar
05/3/2007 20:14 | badtime It's a shame to see so much profit evaporate over relatively such a short space of time, however I'm still over 33% up on these and quite happy to sit out this current spell of volatility in the markets (which you may have noticed is not confined to SCTN) I have plenty of cash for (if) when I decide to top up again, however it's still not earning anywhere close to the 5.7% I receive on capital invested in SCTN (entry price 388p - work it out) Same goes for LLOY (477p - 18% up) and PRU (460p - 40%) though the latter may have to go on yield concerns. | coogar
01/3/2007 11:15 | Only got 2 longs at the mo Jez...EZJ & BGY...wanna see the market settle....Rick | spacemoggy
