Good question Orange1. I also wonder why.

It may be that the product is 'non-core' for imagination, if you'll excuse the pun.

It may be that it will be obsolete before long - or perhaps most likely, it may be a combination and they need the cash noew. Designing new cores and then licencing them is an expensive and continuous development business?

Maybe Orange1 because they want to emulate the Rothchilds who made their money by "selling too soon?".

If the future of Frontier is very bright why would Imagination agree to a one off royalty payment of $ 6m instead of unlimited yearly payments, the last one of which amounted to $ 1m?

Monday's announcement about paying Imagination Technologies $6 million as a final one-off royalty makes sense and is a sensible use of their cash pile. It is good to hear that this is expected to be earnings enhancing straightaway.

Frontier was a wise acquisition and opened SAG up to a growing market via digital radio. This can only get bigger as more EU nations take advantage of the legislation that allows them to phase out analogue or make DAB compulsory in all new sets, like France has done. Definitely a share to hang onto and may make SAG a target themselves one day and for a decent premium, as you would expect for a well run company with some attractive business divisions.

Apologies for the mistake. Sloppy work on my part.

According to the latest annual report he joined as executive chairman and invested in the company in 2010. Martin Radcliffe is 27% holder (was 32% in 2015 annual report).

Good to hear of his successful background. The more background information the better, so please keep it rolling, very useful

cheers

Martin Radcliffe made a great success of Microgen which was re-organised a few years ago with part of the business sold off and the remainder now trading as Aptitude.
I believe that it was at about that time that MR moved to SAG. He strikes me as a good man to follow.

I need to wind up my contact in the village when I see him next as a I think he heads up HR at SAG. Don't think Martin Radcliffe is a founding director as I worked there 30 years ago and the major holder then was Gordon Edge who I don't think is alive today. Not sure how the equity has moved in this time

More signs of DAB+ growth in Europe:

Talking of Europe, happy Bastielle Day to all the French ex-pats living in the UK and there are many of them.

Encouraging results and points to a very strong 2021. The board change is a bit embarrassing but it is better to correct a mistake quickly. It is good they had a ready made replacement, while the outgoing CFO will presumably go to a bigger Plc that he is more used to.

It's unfortunate certainly. No recruitment process can be perfect. All succeed to a greater or lesser extent on occasion.

Given the stake owned by the founding CEO this resembles an owner managed firm than an FTSE company and it probably says more about the expectations of the CEO than it does the recruitment process.

The only thing worse than hiring the wrong person is failing to address the mistake. Boards do this far too often for my liking. In this case I am impressed that it's been addressed swiftly and conclusively.

The culture of a firm managed by the founder who retains a large stake is not to all investors liking. It is something I look for, but it can be an interesting ride,

cheers

There seems to have been a misunderstanding when Mr. Vohra was appointed as CFO three months ago as to the scope of his role at SAG and this has proved more limited than he had hoped.
He may perhaps have had other disagreements too with the chairman and the other directors.
It will be interesting to see where Mr. Vohra goes next.
Certainly SAG has proved a very successful company and I feel confident that its present management system will continue to yield good results.

TIDMSAGRNS Number : 8030EScience Group PLC12 July 202112 July 2021Trading and Board UpdateScience Group plc (the "Company") together with its subsidiaries ("Science Group" or the "Group") provides the following trading update. As reported at the time of the AGM on 19 May 2021, all three divisions of the Group had a good start to the year. This momentum has continued throughout the first half and the Board now anticipates that, for the 6 months to 30 June 2021, the Group will report revenue in excess of GBP40 million and adjusted operating profit ("AOP") in excess of GBP7 million. This is an excellent performance, ahead of the upgraded expectations at the time of the AGM and an AOP increase of over 40% relative to the prior year, despite significant currency exchange headwinds. The interim results are anticipated to be released in the last week of July.Board ChangeBy mutual agreement, Mr Sameet Vohra, Chief Financial Officer, will be resigning from the Board at the end of July and will leave the Group at the end of September. Mr Vohra joined the Company in January and his appointment became effective in late April.Science Group's success is derived from its integrated organisation, with a hands-on operating management culture at all levels of the Group. After a career in significantly larger companies, it has become apparent that the role within Science Group is not aligned with Mr Vohra's aspirations.Mr Jon Brett, currently Group Financial Controller, will be appointed Acting Group Finance Director upon satisfactory completion of the necessary AIM Rules and other compliance procedures at which point it is envisaged that Mr Brett will be appointed to the Board. Mr Brett trained with Deloitte LLP and qualified in 2004. He joined Science Group in March 2020.End

Just bought in after the recent retrace might get a nice increase in run up to results and the peg ratio is indicating this is very cheap one to tuck away in the isa.
Good luck all.

Something more relevant to Frontier/SAG than my previous post:

It is good to see the digital radio sector promoting the advantages of DAB+. It was interesting to learn that only 35-40% of UK DAB users can access DAB+ and its many extra stations. I suspect that is because DAB adaptation took off in the UK before anywhere else nearly 20 years ago, when Pure launched the first <£100 digital radio, the iconic Evoke 1. That means there are a lot of legacy sets still out there from the pre-DAB+ era.

This leaves a real opportunity for the industry to target those existing DAB customers over here to upgrade their sets to DAB+. The sooner the UK follows the lead of France and mandates that all future radios must include FM/DAB+ as standard, the better.

Either way, this promotion can only help DAB+ sales, which is good for Frontier/SAG.

More goods news for Frontier and therefore SAG:

PS. I correct myself, Frontier are designed mainly into the home market and the aftermarket for automotive DAB, so the above link does not really apply here, unfortunately (see answer 1 at the link below):

I agree Dav, I do not trust tipsters either. However, if it adds 20p to the share price I am not complaining!

SAG will get to 500p through its own efforts. To all SAG holders, enjoy what is left of the summer solstice.

Lol - what a lot of BS. Unnoticed/advanced group. I suppose there are enough mugs to follow this stuff to keep him going. Don't get me wrong I'm happy to be holding from lower down. I did read the NT stuff nearly a decade ago but realised he was a bit of a pump merchant - he tends to drop into his blogs weeks after the event that he has sold out and moved on. Sadly I now expect a bit of volatility here but I hope I'm wrong

Here is the tip:

Perhaps surprisingly at the advanced seminar the top vote went to Science Group (SAG) as a lovely isa tuckaway.

It’s one of those shares that goes unnoticed/untouched except for my advanced group! The shares have strong momentum off the back of a bullish trading update and strong results.

Revenue, profit and operating margins are all up. There is plenty of cash and management has skin in the game and bullish on prospects reporting operating profit likely to be 30pc higher in H1 2021. Downside? Not too many market makers in this one and so the spread can go to the wide side but usually it is fairly easy to deal well inside it. For example today the buy price looks like 410. It is actually 395!A nice idea for a safeish isa tuckaway for those with patience.

Shares have a history of rising, then consolidating, (price not moving much) then rising again. Looks like it is in a consolidating stage before another step up, targeting 450p then 500p.
