16/8/2021 13:38 | Whilst you get gushy over how wonderful SAG are it is worth noting that the TPG share price matched SAG over 1,2 and4 years up to July 2020. It has only been in the last year that SAG has risen dramatically and TPG fallen....just as dramatically. SAG see the value and are, quite rightly, being opportunistic and they have a number of things in their favour 1. A good press....rising share price..."aren't they just wonderful...simply super" 2. They have some cash and other, perhaps realisable, assets. 3. They have a proven record of turning under performing companies around. 4. they have a management team in place and that would mean that the TPG (expensive?) management costs could be taken out without a subsequent rise in their cost ...(they would go up but there would be a reasonable gain to SAG ) 5. They could sell Maritime and keep the rest. they could do a deal on the sale of Maritime THEN bid for TPG. You may not like it but this is serious approach for TPG, not a fire sale. Look at the price paid for FST after initially acquiring similar starter stake at 12.5p So A better entry price into SAG might be to buy TPG DYR | toptrump1
16/8/2021 13:33 | The answer to that is quite obvious lol | tizo100
16/8/2021 13:28 | So why did you and why would you wish SaG to acquire it? Lol | toptrump1
16/8/2021 12:39 | Rubbish The performance of TP really instills confidence over recent years does it? Wouldn't like to think my money had being tied up in that company what a terrible share price performance and how many years losses? | tizo100
16/8/2021 11:42 | Why? SAG need to make a serious offer or go hostile The new man at tpg has got big plans. SAG sees the threat/value to them | toptrump1
16/8/2021 11:19 | Disgusting behavior from the board at TP the lot of them should resign | tizo100
16/8/2021 09:16 | Tpg aren’t going to roll over, they’d be of great value to sag, hostile bid from SAG looks more likely now but as with fst will be a lot higher than cost of initial stake | toptrump1
16/8/2021 08:57 | Take that TP. I really don't think they should be so obstructive and completely ignore their own shareholders! | hiddendepths
12/8/2021 11:26 | Rats! It was 1510 that was sold. Should have taken the lot. :-( | hiddendepths
12/8/2021 11:17 | Bought a few. They're not coming cheap. Was quoted 460, then someone sold 1100 and I picked up 1200 at 459. Will add as and when the spread's less unpleasant. | hiddendepths
12/8/2021 11:00 | Presumably the price is being held steady by the presence of a large ongoing seller? If so, I rather approve of the approach of not flooding the market and driving the price down by selling at ever smaller numbers. I'm not a holder at present but am looking to buy. I have TPG and am rather relieved to have a quality company appreciating what it was that I bought the shares for. If it is a large seller and the shares are being steadily mopped up, they should rise as soon as the sale is finished. Looks like a decent time for entry. | hiddendepths
11/8/2021 12:21 | Okay, thanks I thought it was just the target company where holdings had to be disclosed but obviously not. | truffle
11/8/2021 12:16 | It's mandatory because they're in a pre-takeover situation with TPG. | supernumerary
11/8/2021 11:48 | Can someone explain what the purpose of the Liontrust disclosure is? Is it a new position, or an existing position? Either way, holdings under 3% don't have to be declared do they? | truffle
10/8/2021 20:13 | Crikey all been going on here today despite the flatline price. Good to see the ambition here. Interesting times | davr0s
10/8/2021 08:17 | Yes, could be a good fit. Interesting to see what market will make of it. | johndoe23
10/8/2021 08:12 | Bid coming for TPG. Looks very similar to FST - over-paid management ripe for turnaround | mammyoko
06/8/2021 11:22 | No problem varies. I am still clawing back the losses from Frontier but SAG is going in the right direction. I think Sensium is a case of what might have been but the technology is superb and the new owners seem to be driving it forward. It will invetibaly save many lives which is the most important thing. I just wish SAG had ownership and could develop its potential! | life of crime
30/7/2021 23:29 | life of crime Thank you very much indeed for digging out this information and posting it. My recollection of Toumaz and the Sensium division is very hazy and I am interested to be reminded of what actually happened. SAG is unlikely, as you say, to derive any benefit from the Sensium royalties but I am making profits (on paper, of course) on my SAG shares that far outweigh my losses on Toumaz/TST and so have been lucky. For the moment every pronouncement from SAG is more encouraging than the last and the directors do seem very capable. | varies
30/7/2021 17:35 | varies, they sold off the healthcare division, Sensium, for £1.3 million, which was a giveaway. As you said, there was a future royalty (for 10 years) but that was 5 years ago and I doubt they have made a penny out of it. From memory, the royalty rate was tiny anyway. If the board could have delivered on their justification for the sale, to concentrate on the audio business, it might have been worth it, but we know how well that went! It is just a shame they did not licence the health technology to a bigger firm and transfer the relevant staff in return for a permanent royalty. However, they just wanted rid of it in return for peanuts upfront. Another stupid decision by the useless clowns that nearly ran Frontier into the ground. The ease with which SAG have turned Frontier around says it all. | life of crime
29/7/2021 19:00 | Some big trades at lunch time today at 830p without denting the share price Funds swapping holdings or an overhang cleared? Might take the brakes off this. | mach100
29/7/2021 13:19 | Thinking back to Frontier Smart Technologies , in which I had a few shares and lost money like most other shareholders, it had another business besides DAB and this was in medical products. If I remember rightly, they developed a plaster to be attached to hospital patients that would miraculously emit signals to enable a supervisor to monitor from a distance changes in a patient's blood pressure and other developments and thereby save work for the nurses. Unfortunately the R&D required for this product proved ruinous and FST sold the subsidiary for £1 retaining the right to a royalty if and when the product could ever be brought to market. I suspect that this £1 is all that FST will ever receive ! | varies
29/7/2021 12:45 | I have only just seen the latest report. It was an excellent update and it is good to see how the share price has responded. It looks as if Frontier has really bedded in and what was a business that always had potential is now fulfilling it, thanks to the new management. I am very pleased with this investment, in stark comparison with the basket case that was Frontier under the previous directors. The full-year report should make for good reading. PS. Another good set of results from one of my other investments today, Lloyds Bank. Their interim dividend is paid out on 13 September and that was the only thing that was missing from Science Group's excellent update. It sounds like SAG want to sit on their cash while they look for further acquisitions instead, but I still expect a final dividend next year. | life of crime
26/7/2021 08:26 | In summary, the performance of Science Group in the first half of 2021 has been well ahead of the Board's expectations, with all divisions performing well. The excellent first half provides a solid platform for the rest of the year. Frontier is now an integral part of Science Group. Despite the pandemic, the post-acquisition turnaround was very successful and the Board anticipates a rapid payback of the cost of acquisition. The strategy review identified a number of opportunities to further enhance the profitability of this business and areas for future investment. The effectiveness of the Group's acquisition strategy and its disciplined operating model, funded by strong cash generation, is clearly demonstrated by the substantial increase in adjusted operating profit and earnings per share over the past decade. This is particularly apparent in the past two years as a result of the larger acquisition in 2019. With a strong balance sheet including significant cash resources, the Board continues to explore both add-on acquisitions and larger opportunities to increase the scale of the Group. | zipstuck
24/7/2021 13:54 | Interims Monday. Will hopefully continue the slew of good news we have seen. Still undervalued. | mach100 |
