01/12/2006 17:00 | I was also in ELM and currently in RNO. Can anyone tell me the situation with regard to the Hanover guys being on the board here? They are having some trouble with SPT at the moment. Are these ISABLE? Am in right in assuming that Hanover 'have their fingers' in CSLT,RNO,SPT,and these only? Thanks in anticipation! | gswredland
01/12/2006 12:07 | 100K sold, 11K bought and not a flinch from an MM - they are filling a buy order imo. CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 21:07 | will be interesting to see if any of the large trades prove to be more director buys - took them 3 days to announce the last lot. CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 16:57 | A breakout too - closed at a high. CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 16:45 | great timing for me too, martest. In just before the rise. | woody6
30/11/2006 16:09 | So glad i topped up.This is the best,it happened similarly at ELM. There was no hype and share price rose slowly until the first interims when Hanover took control. After the interim statement the share price rose steadily up until it nearly trebled from 32 to 87.ELM was a chemical company too,so all augurs well for a nice rise in share price to wherever it takes us.We are in good safe hands i believe.DYOR. | martest
30/11/2006 14:43 | Moved up, now 5v1 at the higher level. CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 14:09 | movin up on level II - 3v1 now CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 13:34 | 100K buy at a premium today, interesting. This is an ugly duckling imo. I like buying ugly ducklings because they turn into swans and the majority would sooner buy a swan for a much higher price when they see it all looking dandy and a couple of golden eggs get revealed. I think there will be interesting developments over the next few months. A couple of directors when today, that's a lot of the dead wood gone now I suspect. Hanover will be influencing the pension strategy and digging up the hidden treasure imo. I think these will get active again soon. CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 11:51 | Just added a few more for my Sipp. | woody6
30/11/2006 08:43 | In the "Pensions" section of the RNS, I quite liked "It is the Company's intention to close the schemes to future accrual from 1 April 2007, with employee consultation now commenced on this proposal." So presumably they're planning, for future contributions from the start of the new tax year, on putting all current employees into a Money Purchase Scheme pension. I guess the next step would be to buy some or all employees out of the defined benefit pension scheme via a contribution into their individual MPS pots. Collectively, this may well have a significant +ve effect on EPS. Here's hoping that's the case anyway. Cheers, Martin | shanklin
30/11/2006 08:06 | Cazenove and Kleinwort on the bid @ 27p - a keen buyer about - got another 15K myself CR | cockneyrebel
30/11/2006 07:45 | Results out and on the face of it a lot better than I expected. Break even eps. That's a rapid improvement from 1.7p loss in H1 last year and 8,7p loss in H2. If they can keep this momentum up on the cost cutting in H2 or just do a tad more cost cutting even, they will be miles ahed of current forecasts. More director buying today or tomorrow perhaps. Hanover certainly look to have found a nice turnaround play here imo. Asbestos and pension got to grip with too it seems. overall a lot better than I expected, especially bas they were out @ 7.30 am! CR | cockneyrebel
29/11/2006 17:08 | well, lets see what the results say tomorrow! | amedin
25/11/2006 16:23 | CR and DiogenesJ Many thanks for your excellent replies earlier.Very interested but will watch from the sidlines for now. Also interested in PTR but at present haven't the cash for both so weighing up my options. Both look very exciting prospects. | susiebe
25/11/2006 13:16 | I don't know if you are aware but Peel Hunt have upgraded RNO's forecasts after the results martest. CR | cockneyrebel
25/11/2006 13:02 | The directors at SCAPA knew which way the share price will be going and bought at 23/24, so i dont believe this can fall much at all and topping up time should be now while share price is low as on/after 30th the share price could rise sharply and quickly unlike RNO which had already risen 50% and is most probably a little ahead of the game now for the moment.Good Luck. | martest
25/11/2006 12:56 | Yep, CSLT is Hanover's badly timed one so they don't get their timing perfect or necessarily right. There was a clue to avoiding that one tho in the director selling, with hindsight. Sadly I ignored it :-( CR | cockneyrebel
25/11/2006 12:12 | It's a bit of a gamble, susie. Hanover have a very good (but not perfect) record in turning round underperforming companies. Past successes include FOUR and ELM. For one at a somewhat similar stage to this one, look at Renold (RNO) and its thread here. For one that hasn't worked out quite so well (yet), look at CSLT. Turnarounds are high risk, but can be very profitable, as I expect you know. | diogenesj
25/11/2006 12:09 | I honestly can't say. RNO results looked unspectacular to some and they sold out on the open after the results, falling about 6p. Investors had a re-think after that fall, or those that could see the value bought more and it ended up a couple of pence. I think SCPA's results in terms of eps won't look great and on that side they will only just meet estimates perhaps. But I think the company will say that they are going to restructure in a way that will release or enhance shareholder value (it's already begun with the recent disposal). This will attract longer term investors like me and probably not excite the traders. But the same has been happening at RNO where the share has risen about 50% since June and the same has happened in the past with ELM, SPT and FOUR too, when Hanover have got into the company and shaken it up. So it's a faith play on Hanover and their ability really. I think they really know what they are doing, are smarter than me and I'm willing to ride on their coat tails. They were buying more shares in RNO this week. Directors were buying modest amounts @ 23p in Sep, 2 months ahead of results. Basically it's a toss up. I think these wiull go higher afterthe results but can't discount a dip on the results first of all if the short termers do the same as with RNO. Your guess :-) CR | cockneyrebel
25/11/2006 11:14 | CR Thanks for that. If results are going to be unspectacular as you say is it better to buy before or after results? TIA | susiebe
24/11/2006 21:46 | No forecasts for the share price, sorry. But the Hanover boys are in here too and the directors have been buying. Looks like another RNO, ELM, FOUR in the making imo. results will be unspectacular imo. What will be important will be what they say about enhancing shareholder value. The Megolon disposal looks like it has started to transform the business. I think we'll see more director buying after the results. They all bouight two months before the results and haven't been able to buy since until results are out. CR | cockneyrebel
24/11/2006 18:19 | Have been following this share for a few days and looks interesting. Can anyone give me an idea of share price forecasts? thanks | susiebe
24/11/2006 15:40 | A few Juicier here today to start the run up to interims next Thursday which ihope will repeat the nice jump in share price we have enjoyed with RNO this week. Remember what happened at ELM and that was a chemical company really in the doldrums, the share price trebled since Hanover took control. | martest |
