16/3/2005 18:09 | LONDON (AFX) - Scapa Group PLC warned that profits for the year to March 2005 will miss market forecasts following significant rises in raw material prices, particularly in North America. As a result, pretax profits before goodwill and exceptionals will be around 2 mln stg below current market expectations, Scapa said. Sales will be broadly similar to last year despite the weak dollar, it added. The group is increasing its selling prices but the benefits of this move will not occur until the next financial year. Scapa said there had been a small explosion at its Italian tapes manufacturing plant. No one was seriously injured and although there will be some disruption to production in the next few weeks, insurance should cover the costs of the incident, it added. The company also announced that its Scapa Dryer Fabrics unit was voluntarily dismissed from an asbestos damages case in Seattle in the US shortly after the trial started. "This dismissal continues to illustrate the robust approach taken in vigorously defending such claims," Scapa said. newsdesk@afxnews.com | garybaldi

24/2/2004 13:24 | This announcement appeared a couple of days ago: "Following Scapa's Annual General Meeting on 24th July 2003, the Companies Court have today approved the special resolution authorising a reduction of share capital and cancellation of the share premium account." The significance of this is that the company is now in a position to pay a dividend if it wishes to do so! Let's hope that we see a resumption of dividend payments as a result. | mgpp

21/1/2004 14:04 | Oppo, sold my final block of 15k a couple of days ago at 34.25p.........I may well be back and in greater quantities again as I like SCPA and feel it has further to run in the longer term, but with techs going ballistic I felt the money was better put to good use elsewhere. Paid 20p so pleased with the gain and with a bit of luck I might even nab em on the cheap if we get a pullback :-) See ya soon Phil | the jitters
18/1/2004 02:51 | Well spotted oppo, I must have been napping on friday ;-) Nice stock overhang clearance there then has helped the stock move up. Phil | the jitters
