New to Saga . Roger De Haan plans to invest £100 million as part of the fundraise at 12p He is also planning to make an investment through the placing of 224 million new shares-20%of the company share capital at 27p each . Maybe he has to pay this to guarantee such a large holding . Surprising so many shareholders are hesitating to take up the 12p offer or am I missing something.

The only concern I have is I wonder how many investors who are going to take up the offer will actually break even once they have averaged down and then sell up, even take a minimal loss maybe just to exit, I stand to be corrected.

Hi Koets,
Yeah l get that re selling to buy again but l can live with that as it’ll ultimately bring more stability.
I’ve been thinking the same re a bid coming in.
It’s well named is SAGA!!

Good day for Saga, glad to be keeping my hand in here.
RDH’s dosh and share issue give a degree of longevity and puts company in a healthier financial position.
Yes there will be a dilution of share but for me it’s quite bizarre that you can buy shares cheaper now than when RDH news broke.

Aye looks like you are right.

At least SAGA didnt get hammered in the auction - others like JUST and BWNG did

Lots of stocks had large UT today, so not just Saga. Probably option expiries or something. It happens every few months.

Its neither a sell or buy mate

The auction seeks to match as many buyers and sellers at the best price it can.

Two large sell orders went straight into the auction when it opened but they were very quickly matched off with buyers

No doubt all something to do with the offer, but I dont know what

Gravely, SAGA is good value based on the even just the insurance side, with the travel business now in for free and a boss that just paid double the current share price to buy back in. Incidentally you would calculate the value of the cruise ships using parameters covering their entire lifetimes of 40+ years. In that context the current climate it just a buying opportunity.

FOMO troubling the share price today? Or just a few shorts closing ahead of the w/e?

"How much are the cruise ships worth?"

Less today than yesterday.

pmf,
I think we are saying the same thing ?
What he's doing seems open and fair.
The price is probably just so low because if you don't want to put additional money into Saga then selling to take up the open offer makes sense.
But RdH and the other players do make it a complex picture.

Yep, either of these is possible

i disagree.....he's already got more (personal) money than he could ever spend so this imo is his attempt at 'repairing' what he sees as a damaged brand as he's got an attachment to it....whether it fails/succeeds won't dent his wealth nor change his life....time will tell.....

babbo1,
Specifically regarding RdH, if every body takes up the open offer he will own 16.6 % of the company which will have cost him £75 mill.
But if enough people don't {I have no idea how many are already committed from the book build} he will acquire an additional 9.8% for only £25 million more.

Given his age and wealth I would tend to accept that he is putting money in and taking control for personal reasons.
But he may well want more than 16% to strengthen his position.
Who knows, he might even consider bidding for the whole company.

I hope you are right.
However, wealthy business people rarely have room for sentimentality.
If there is a buck to be made by selling off bits I doubt he will worry about the family name.
Current MCap is 143m
