Greka Drilling Limited

("Greka Drilling" or the "Company")

PetroChina Drilling Contract Awarded in China

Greka Drilling Limited (AIM: GDL), the largest independent and specialized unconventional oil & gas driller in Asia, is pleased to announce a new contract to provide CBM drilling services to PetroChina Huabei Oilfield Limited ("PetroChina") in the Fanzhuang Block in Shanxi Province, China.

Greka Drilling successfully drilled 13 wells (involving 19,257 metres) for PetroChina from 2013 to 2015 and is pleased to be awarded this contract for up to 5 horizontal wells. The new contract is for a period of one year. Drilling operations are expected to commence shortly.

Randeep S. Grewal, Chairman and CEO of Greka Drilling, commented:

"The winning of this 5 horizontal well contract proves once again that PetroChina recognizes Greka Drilling as a quality drilling company with advanced rig technology and experienced crews. PetroChina is also expected to commence a 100 cluster wells drilling project in Anze Block in 2017, which represents a significant further opportunity for us. Following an expected slow 2016, we are hopeful that 2017 will be a busy and fruitful year for Greka Drilling in China."

Carney: RBS has made progress....

Q: How frustrated are you that Royal Bank of Scotland failed this year’s stress tests?

RBS has made a lot of progress in recent years, says Carney, especially around its core business -- to serve UK small businesses and households. However, it still has legacy issues to deal with.

As Carney puts it:

It lost its way over a number of years and did a number of other things...not particularly well.

That’s a coded jibe at RBS’s former boss, the de-knighted Fred Goodwin, whose ambitious growth plans ended in utter disaster in 2008.

Carney emphasises that RBS doesn’t have to raise extra capital; it has to reduce risks assets, to put itself in a stronger position to handle another financial crisis.

The RBS CEO has failed and should be fired. I've been saying this for a while now he's managed the bank badly and he's out of his depth.

I don't understand the continuation of ever-more-adverse stress-testing.

Anchoring the capital/asset/lending set-up using a severely adverse (and somewhat unlikely) scenario ensures banks are not efficient.

What this does do is protect the reputations of those ordering the stress-tests - stops them being accused of being asleep at the wheel. It's a shame they weren't so vigilant 8 years ago.

I doubt that changing the CEO will fix the problem.

RBS has massive liabilities from its pre-financial crisis adventures coupled with which, its exit from investment banking, means its revenue stream is now pretty limited.

The real question to be answered, is how is RBS going to pay off those liabilities.

This is why it is trading at less than 20p in old money.
