Ch.4 certainly didn't pull any punches in its report from Washington this evening, as far as today's three 'appointees' are concerned. Made them sound like three ultra conservative hardliners, with bells on! All kinds of non-PC soundbites and footage - not easy to see Sessions hunting down the Kluckers...Good luck to the Kiwi!

I see the FT is describing Sessions as a "hardliner". Perhaps that suggests the fine might be nearer 12 than 5?? Presumably, he will want to finalize it next year and that may put pressure on the Kiwi to increase the associated provisions in the 2016 Results?? Time will tell.

It seems that Rep Senator Jeff Sessions is likely to be Trump's AG. He was AG in Alabama. 69. Has he ever heard of RBS? He will soon enough!

Temperatures near the North Pole have risen above freezing in the latest sign of the “sudden” and “very serious” changes to the Earth’s climate.

The US Weather Channel reported that at least five buoys near the pole had recorded temperatures from between zero and 1.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday this week.

At the same time, parts of central Russia have seen temperatures of minus 40C.

London-based brewer Fullers' managed pubs grew like-for like sales, but tenanted pubs profits were down 2% in the half year.

Chief executive Simon Emeny says it's been "a good strong first half of the year... in quite changing conditions".

He said the managed pubs had "dealt very well with the move to food", but the tenanted pubs had been hit by "England's abject performance in the [football] European championships, and what was a very wet early summer period."

David Buik tweets calls from both IG Index and CMC Markets. Both suggesting a slightly higher opening this morning.

The US seemed to take Yellen's unequivocal statement strongly indicating that there will be a rate rise to 0.75% in December, in its stride last night.

The FX market did, however, react. USD parity with the Euro at some point soon seems a given.

He has caused more financial damage and pain to Europeans than anyone else in this decade.

Problem is that he hits with a big stick.

I rather guess that is the tactic. Merkel offered the carrot this morning with hints of concessions on immigration if we stay. This afternoon her enforcer draws attention to the consequences if we leave.

The worrying one liner from him was that there was no a la carte menu on offer. We either accept that free movement is integral to any deal or accept that there would be no deal.

We know where he got his ideas from.

The Verailles treaty signed in 1919.
Germany was blamed for the war and had to sign the treaty agreeing to crippling reparation payments after it lost.
Schauble want us to pay reparations for years now because of Brexit.
