Let's hope he's fired soon.

John Mann, a Labour MP on the Treasury committee, told the Financial Times that replacing Ross McEwan as chief executive was “one of the options that needs to be considered”. He added: “If this leadership isn’t up to sorting the bank out and being honest about the scale and nature of problems, they need to move over and let someone else do it.”

Eight years after being rescued with £45bn from taxpayers during the financial crisis, the bank has also failed to reach a US settlement over allegations of mis-sold mortgage securities or to sell off a chunk of clients under the Williams & Glyn brand.

As RBS prepares to announce its ninth annual net loss, the string of setbacks have dealt another blow to the government’s hopes of selling down its 72 per cent stake and raised doubts about whether its turnround strategy is working.

Criticism of the bank’s performance is growing in some political and financial circles. A chief executive of another British bank described RBS’s failure to turn itself round as “staggering”.

Perversely the strength of the £ is chopping the legs off the rise of FTSE100 oilers, as the value of the US denominated dividends fall.

BP. earlier up more than 3% is up just 1% now.

Good afternoon.

Sterling climbed the most in almost two weeks against the dollar, reaching the highest since Nov. 11, as Brexit Secretary David Davis said the U.K. would consider making contributions to the EU in order to secure the best possible access to the single market. Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem told the Times of Malta that Britain might be able to participate in the internal market, albeit at a cost.

That bloke on the boat was taking a hell of a chance.

Still, the navy boat behind no doubt had a health and safety officer who will give him a stiff talking to.

US Treasury pocket all the fines - a department whicn runs along side the US securities commissokn that eased the net capital rule in the fist place, in tne early 2000's. Its the biggest robbery/ scam so far in human history.
