Bank of England Deputy Governor Minouche Shafik said officials could ease policy as early as their next meeting on Nov. 3, even before the government announces any fiscal measures in response to Britain's Brexit vote. The BOE has previously said most officials expect to act again this year, after the Monetary Policy Committee cut their key interest rate for the first time in seven years in the wake of the decision to quit the European Union. The timing of the central bank's judgment is complicated by the fact that U.K. Chancellor Philip Hammond won't deliver his end-of-year fiscal statement until Nov. 23.Bloomberg - Shafik Says BOE Could Ease Before Hammond Outlines Brexit Plan

Asset sales by DB begin ... First under the hammer is .....Newsflash: Deutsche Bank has just agreed to sell Abbey Life, its UK life assurance group, to £935m.Deutsche are selling the business to Phoenix Group, Britain's largest owner of life assurance funds. This should give Deutsche some much-needed extra capital, to help pay that US fine. However, the deal will also trigger a £800m pre-tax loss (due to goodwill impairment).

I guess DB has replaced US rate rise fears and brexit as this week's trading volatility chess queen, or is it rook.

High rise living is plainly no bar to a long life. Diet is said to be a major factor. Lots of rice and fish.

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (RBS Group) has reached a final settlement with the National Credit Union Administration Board to resolve two outstanding civil lawsuits for US$ 1.1 billion (GBP846 million). The settlements, involving its subsidiary RBS Securities Inc., relate to the two residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) cases (asserting claims on behalf of US Central Federal Credit Union and Western Corporate Federal Credit Union), most recently disclosed in RBS's 2016 Interim Results Announcement ("2016 Interim Results"). The settlement amount is substantially covered by existing provisions as of 30 June 2016 and will have no material impact on the RBS Group's CET1 ratio.
