“We are rather sceptical of many of the things Rolls-Royce is now telling investors,” brokers said, including the firm’s ability to break even on new wide-body jet engine sales and upping prices on long-term service agreement contracts.

Kuwait Airways signs TotalCare Agreement with Rolls-Royce for Trent 7000 engines

Kuwait Airways and Rolls-Royce sign agreement to enhance engine maintenance of the Trent 7000 engines.

The maintenance will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of the Trent 7000 engines powering KAC’s fleet of A330neos.

The service agreement will use advanced technology to monitor the health and performance of engines in real-time, which will allow Kuwait Airways to effectively have proactive maintenance and minimise flight disruptions.

Chairman of Kuwait Airways, Captain Ali Al-Dukhan, said: “We are glad to be signing the Rolls-Royce TotalCare service agreement which will help us reach our strategic objectives of optimising our engine operations, increase our fuel efficiencies, and enhancing the maintenance planning across our fleet. This will not only lead to lowering our costs and increasing our productivity but will also have a positive effect on our passengers as we will be able to better predict and prevent disruptions to our operations.”

Al-Dukhan added: “This partnership will give us the opportunity to access Rolls-Royce TotalCare services so we may promptly attend to our needs. By signing the Rolls-Royce TotalCare agreement, we can focus our internal resources and expertise on our core operations, such as flight operations and passenger services. This allows us to allocate our resources efficiently and concentrate on providing superior travel experience for our passengers.”

Rob Watson, President Civil Aerospace from Rolls-Royce added, “We have a long-standing relationship with Kuwait Airways supporting their Trent 700 powered A330 fleet. Today takes that relationship one step further as we sign this new agreement for our TotalCare services package for their new fleet of Trent 7000 powered A330neos. We look forward to supporting Kuwait Airways in their continued expansion and in the delivery of their world-class passenger experience by providing them with predictability and certainty across their operation.”

Rolls-Royce ambitions intriguing, says broker

Rolls-Royce should be wary of setting overly-ambitious targets, JP Morgan said

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LSE:RR.)’s ambitious outlook is admirable, according to JP Morgan brokers, but the company is left having to prove itself.

Commenting on new chief executive Tufan Erginbilgic’s plan to transform profitability and cash flow at Rolls-Royce, JP Morgan said he should be wary to set “credible” targets that can be “supported by realistic buildings blocks”.

“We are rather sceptical of many of the things Rolls-Royce is now telling investors,” brokers said, including the firm’s ability to break even on new wide-body jet engine sales and upping prices on long-term service agreement contracts.

Rolls-Royce forecast a £500mln to £700mln growth on 2022’s £792mln long-term service agreement income during last February’s full-year results.

Operating profit was tipped to come in between £800mln and £1bn during the upcoming year, alongside free cash flow of £600mln to £800mln.

This would mark increases of up to 52% and 58% respectively on last year’s results.

“We are intrigued by the highly ambitious commentary coming from Rolls-Royce,” JP Morgan added, but this “is hard to reconcile with its historical performance”.

Rolls-Royce shares were rated as ‘underweight’ by JP Morgan, which added the FTSE 100-firm would likely lay out “high margin targets” later this year.
