Berenberg appointed joint broker alongside Peel Hunt. This is positive. Berenberg has a decent smaller companies team who should produce research and has a good client franchise in Europe. Renewi is probably tired of such a poor rating, in part thanks to the current shop broker.

Hello Renewi ‘stale bulls’! A little piece of positive news for us. Have you seen that Tellworth (the other short seller alongside GLG) reduced their short from 0.76% to 0.43% recently? Now that the position is <0.5% we won’t see the position reported so we have no idea if they continue to close the position. Fingers crossed they continue to reduce.

Alternatively, I would like to see Renewi partnering with companies across Europe to roll out capital lite recycling JVs using RWI know-how and capital supplied by partners.

Rome’s waste crisis turns into golden opportunity for Dutch. FT reporting Rome's waste to the Netherlands - I wonder if any could come our way?

They have to be betting against the cost going forward of servicing of the Company's debt. A reasonable case could be made for shorting if we weren't profitable, or if the debt/bonds couldn't be rolled over.
I believe the shorters will be proven wrong. Debt cost to profitability level/Cash flow isn't that far out that we are in any danger short, medium or long term.
AND they always risk the out of left-field chance of a private equity bid.
At this level an £8.50/€10 attempt couldn't be ruled out for a good operator in a very desireable, but limited opportunity to invest in, GREEN sector.

Sadly, Tellworth investments has increased their short position by 12 basis points to 0.76% on the 3rd April. They will have their reasons, I don’t understand the logic.

The UK PPP is almost covered anyway by the Walloon provision release.
I can't see any major reason why folk would want to short this.
Any rise in shareprice might actually force a rapid shorter reversal / close.

Me too. Apart from the UK PPP news this should calm the nerves…

The pre-close statement tomorrow morning, what’s the betting on the stock price ? Full year results on the 25th May.

The short positions seem stable now , though the continuing share price weakness this month is disappointing . I wonder if the new Milton Keynes HQ will strengthen their UK presence?

I still think the shorters are looking at the bigger macro economic picture of rising European interest rates, and looking at the large debt here, and saying to themselves "They'll have trouble servicing that, never mind paying it down"
I think they're missing the fact that the Company can get away "Green Bonds" at very reasonable interest, and will be able to do so on a rolling, ongoing basis.
Flows of money towards ESG funds are still increasing, and recycling is as ESG as they get.
If, at the next results, the Company announced "we're not going to invest as much next year, and will be able to pay down €60/€80m of the debt" I think the shorts would close pretty quickly.

You'd figure they would only go short if there's more to come in the future for this stock.

Thanks sausage, the short position here seems to be creeping up, 2% quite high for one single institution?

Its very irritating but if you look at the past three years the graph looks good. In my opinion.

Hello Fairways. Not sure why the stock is down so much in the week but the price won’t have been helped by the GLG Algo programme increasing their short by 0.05% recently going to 2%. Selling into weakness is their thing. Irritating.

Walletinvestor forecasts over a 1 year term a price estimating 958 gbx(€10.82).
Over a 5 year term they forecast a share price of 2036 gbx(€23.01).

Cute. I wonder what their motives are.

Thanks all for the updates. Surprised the house broker hasn’t written anything about this very positive ruling. Miserable volume today.
