Hello everyone. Sorry to report but an outfit called Tellworth Investments has slung out a 0.54% short notified on the 6th Dec. They also announced several other shorts at the same time so not necessarily picking on Renewi. Frustrating nonetheless.

Devro was their fourth largest short (AS A PERCENTAGE OF THE SHARES)

It just went up 61% in a day on a takeover offer. I have no idea why they were short Devro. It was a boring, stable business with a cheap valuation of about 9-10x eps. It wasn't very exposed to energy costs. The business was performing fine. Baffling.

GLG partners have increased their short once again. There must be some logic here but for the life of me I can't see it.

Analysts at Liberum said: "Renewi is well positioned in advanced circular economies. In terms of valuation, exit multiples in the waste sector imply that Renewi's share price could double." However, Liberum reduced its target price on the stock from 1,012.0p to 865.0p to reflect its full-year 2024 fully-diluted earnings per share estimates dropping by 16% to €0.92 amid ongoing macro challenges.

"We continue to expect a FY benefit from Paro, and the benefit from the value drivers. However, we expect no repeat of the one-offs in FY23, and the impact on lower recyclate prices, and weaker volumes. It should be possible to offset most of the cost inflation through price inflation - apart from recyclates - as Renewi is doing in FY 22," said Liberum.

Today's rise at the close is symptomatic of the change in feeling following the US inflation figures. The FED isn't going to hike at .75% again, - the BOE and ECB are right to be 'behind the US curve' and won't have to raise interest rates as much as some feared.
The shareprice recovery starts now in earnest.

Stifel cuts target price to 960p from 1100p. Peel Hunt cuts target price to 920p from 1080p

2023 Analyst forecast chart supposes that a 1.5% dividend is very likely.
With 2024 2.3% and 2025 2.7% respectively. Remember Forecasts equals speculation.

IMHO this is a very risky short for GLG, I guess they are hoping the share price will fall after Nov 10. I wouldn't want to bet on that. A bid could come at any time.

Thanks Greg for the heads up. That’s short 1.249m by my reckoning. As I understand GLG launched a few months ago a new long/short fund, perhaps this position sits in there and is growing with the size of the fund as they receive fresh capital. Either way, it’s annoying.

If £5 holds tomorrow [i.e. end of week] I think we can call an at least temporary bottom Chart-wise.
To establish any sort of definite uptrend pattern though will take a break of 550, at which stage it's a "buy" again.

Another 100k shorted on the 14th Oct it would appear and looks like they are back in the market again today.

GLG partners first reportedly took out 0.58% short around 4 Sept at 741p.
Now 1.43%.

It's particularly annoying as I have a significant(to me) holding in Man Group which owns GLG.
