This is a nice mannered board - I'm sure we can all forgive and just discuss Renewi and news that affects the Company.
Today's 'nothing' announcement is strange, unless the guarantor is now the whole Company, rather than just the Shanks part.

Thank you, indeed I do not have English as my first language.
Because I am dutch.
The previous post was also influenced
by a trend I saw a few years back.
Immense drops, which happen mainly in between result presentations.
But don't take my word for it, it's just my two cents.

Also beware, Wad, that Theo's first language might not be English, - so I usually forgive spelling mistakes, as, even with English as a first language, I often mix up things like "s" and the American "z"

The speed of this decline suggests bot / computer driven trading, with lower stops being hit triggering selling and even lower stops being hit.
I sold a few "too early" at £7.40 on the road up, and, though well in profit, sort of regreted doing so.
I'm now seriously thinking of buying again with that cash, but will "wait for the knife to stick"

Unless I'm missing some obvious news ?????

Chart-wise there's a medium strength support line at 680, but if that goes it's a 610-620 target. :-(

Could we have an institutional dumper who maybe took a gamble on us getting into the 250, and is now bailing out ?
Or are we being sold down because the market is short sighted as to the progress we are making paying down the debt, and that rising interest rates won't hit us badly as most of our debt is fixed for the longer term ?
Or is it just that we ran ahead of ourselves on the Biffa etc bids ?
Or is it that we aren't paying a divvy, so 'growth' funds/institutions have a bigger reason to sell as shareprice growth reverses making a decending spiral ?

I may be thick, but isn't Renewi a beneficiary of higher gas prices in Benelux?

They run the gas-to-grid plant where they sell green gas to Shell.

There's a small contribution from selling landfill gas from the legacy / onerous Belgian landfill contracts.

They told us in the last update they are fully hedged for electricity / fuel costs for 2022.

There's a positive correlation between higher inflation and recyclate prices.

Commercial (non-municipal) contracts in the Benelux reprice every January when Renewi passes through cost inflation.

Yes labour costs might be an issue with the truck drivers and the unions but adding everything together, shouldn't higher gas prices and inflation be a net positive for Renewi?

Unfortunately RWI didn't make it to the FTSE 250. Puretech, NextEnergy, Bluefield, Go-Ahead and conditionally TwentyFour got promoted.

Better luck next quarter I guess!

At least RWI starts as one of the top three favorites to be promoted but lots can happen until November

The shareprice needs to close above £7.90 to keep the 'upward channel' in place.
A close below sets in place a 'head and shoulders confirmation' with an immediate down target of £7.50.

Updated Numis FTSE 250 promotion estimates ahead of the FTSE decision next week, as things stand based on yesterday's closing prices.

Effectively if Renewi price performs c. 2% relatively better compared to TwentyFour Income and Go-Ahead by next Tuesday, it should move into the FTSE 250. So things are very tight.

Also Homeserve is getting delisted very soon because of its takeover, so there would be another slot open.

Numis estimates that Renewi is a prime candidate to move into the FTSE 250 in the Sep-22 rebalancing.

Three of these companies will be promoted to FTSE 250 and all of them have similar market caps £630m-£700m so it's real battle. Getting promoted will bring signficant buying interest by ETFs, index passive investors etc. Even if RWI doesn't join this Sep, there are five companies under takeover bids in the 250 and due to be delisted so RWI could replace them in the meantime.

The chart "Inverted wedge" target of 850/860 could prove a short-term ceiling.
But we have a lovely rising channel in place now, with an 820 floor, and a 6 week target of £9

I think that private equity parties that have just made a mistake at Veolia UK will soon be on the doorstep of CEO Otto de Bont with a proposal. The difference between 16.9 and 4.5 times EV/EBITDA is simply too big to ignore. I cannot imagine that Renewi as market leader of the BeNeLux will be skipped in the takeover wave in the sector.
