Two big tenders we in for then DLG!!

100MW south Australia and I suspect the Victoria 100MW system also, yes that's 3 we (kind of) know about.

Not quite sure why you are posting that?

If it's meant be why not a redT win then look at the energy duration, not suited to flow battery and again before we commenced sales for tendering anyhow.

National Grid accepts eight bids for battery storage contracts08/26/2016By Diarmaid Williams International Digital Editor The UK's National Grid has accepted eight bids and a combined 201 MW from battery energy storage providers in its first Enhanced Frequency Response service tender. It's likely to be the storage industry's biggest award this year. Storage plays a key role in the greening of utilities' networks by allowing grid managers to handle higher volumes of intermittent power from the wind and sun.National Grid logoWinners included EDF Energy Renewables' 49MW at its West Burton power station in Nottinghamshire, Vattenfall's 22MW at Pen y Cymoedd wind farm in South Wales and E.ON's 10MW at its Blackburn Meadow CHP plant in Sheffield.Other successful parties were RES, Belectric, Element Power and Low Carbon."Frequency response is something we've always had and enhanced frequency-response is a faster version of it," said Cathy McCay, head of commercial operations at National Grid. "As we get more renewables on the system, this flexibility is going to be incredibly important."The TSO said bids were received from 37 providers, 34 of which are from battery assets. Some 64 bids totalling more than 1.2 GW prequalified to enter the race for four-year contracts, including 888MW of battery storage.National Grid said 61 bids were for battery assets, two from demand reduction and one from thermal generation.Renewable Energy Association policy lead James Court added: "National Grid deserve credit for kickstarting this market and the government must now follow through with its pledge to remove barriers to the industry. The Enhanced Frequency Response tender has been developed to bring forward technologies that can provide a fast response solution to system volatility.EFR requires 100% active power output within one second or less to deviations from the standard 50Hz frequency to prevent faults. Previously the fastest frequency response was delivered in under 10 seconds.Logan Goldie-Scot, analyst for BNEF in London said the awards were a big boost for storage. "Previously, activity had for the most part been limited to standalone demonstration projects" funded by the U.K. power regulator, Ofgem.National Grid's request for tenders for "Enhanced Frequency Response" units was neutral on the sort of technology it preferred.Bloomberg New Energy Finance reports that the companies awarded contracts through the tender will have to be on the grid by April 2018. They must pass post-tender milestone tests around February. They won primarily because of the price they submitted, but availability was also taken into account. Most of them offered to provide the service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Just a very quick search on "google" would have shown this contract was awarded last year, so tendering would have been before our seeding scheme was complete and therefore not commercial:-

Vattenfall has been awarded a contract to build a 22-megawatt battery facility at its Pen y Cymoedd wind farm in Wales. The giant battery will help to support the stability of the national grid in the UK.

We need one case study lithium versus Vanadium where the win is clear and it's us that provides it. Then when Wales is replaced we replace those six containers with ours.In seven years time when or Marcap is 650million . Plus.

Haven't looked into that contract at all, however what I would say is we are targeting off-grid and weak-grid connection today.

Besides we are not going to win all contracts and we know that we are tendering for other like Australia etc, perhaps when that tender was announced we weren't commercially ready as we are today.

I am invested here. The industry is huge. Potentially , maybe actually. Business is not poker, more like bridge. If you have a good hand play it well.I want to know if the cards are 5 - 1 not 3-2 in a key area.I didn't know about Wales.I now do, there will be links with BMW , contracts , inertia. I don't like that. It is not grave, but I'd rather it was the other way round.

The point being the article covered both so why not post in its entirety then discuss the points intended. You see the reaction achieved by the post that followed. Others viewed it as Redt not being involved or in competition when in fact they are very much already in the race with Centrica as support.

I posted the part of the article that was completely new both to me and new to this board. Cornwall has already been covered very well. However the installation is on a holiday park. The welsh wind farm is on the grid and is exactly the type of installation that we know RedT is perfect for. Far better than Li-ion batteries. It represents both a missed opportunity and a target for sales and marketing. They should now be targeting the Swedish company that installed this ad well as the wind farm operator.

Thanks Dog....that's exactly what I was referring to.

Strange to post on this board but deliberately leave out the bit relevant to this company.

This project, utilising the systems originally manufactured for the Isle of Gigha, is the largest energy storage project to be deployed in Cornwall to date and will be a crucial and high profile demonstration site.

here's the bit missing from same article in guardian a couple days back...

Batteries powering up in Cornwall
Across the Bristol Channel, Britain’s biggest energy company is making headway on another innovative pilot project hoping to ease grid operators’ headaches and bring more green energy on the system.

This month, British Gas owner Centrica began recruiting households to take part in a £19m trial of a local energy market that will see the company putting batteries, solar panels and smart storage heaters in up to 100 homes.

Businesses will also take part, including Hendra, a holiday park near Newquay, where a battery will be installed to make the most of the caravan site’s existing solar panels and pair of wind turbines.

Centrica hopes to aggregate the batteries to provide flexibility to the local network operator, Western Power Distribution. With Cornwall’s sunny climes and location at the end of the power network, so much solar power has been installed that in places it is creating bottlenecks on the network, or providing electricity when it is not needed.

Nestling alongside rows of conifers and wind turbines in a Welsh valley, a pioneering project will materialise this summer that could prove a blueprint for unlocking Britain's renewable energy potential. The Upper Afan Valley near Swansea is already home to the biggest windfarm in England and Wales, but in July work will begin there on one of the UK's largest battery storage schemes.Built by Swedish energy company Vattenfall, the facility will involve six shipping containers stuffed with lithium-ion batteries made by BMW's electric car division. This the competition. Come on RedT!

Network operator Western Power Distribution says interest in connecting storage assets, chiefly batteries, has reached “unprecedented levels”. It has agreed connections for more than 1GW of storage, with connection offers also made for a further gigawatt.

The company now seeks views from firms mulling energy storage investments so it can plan how to accommodate them on its networks across the midlands, south Wales and the south west.

UK distribution network operator Western Power Distribution (WPD) has launched a consultation seeking views on the potential growth of energy storage on its distribution network after receiving an ‘unprecedented’ 8GW of applications in the last 18 months.

The ‘Energy Storage Growth Scenarios and Operating Modes’ document has been published this month to enable the distribution network operator (DNO) to gain better understanding of the rate of growth, how energy storage assets are likely to be used and their “mode of operation”, and the profile of charge and discharge.
