Hi Brian - what were the reasons given by Jefferies for the downgrade?

Jefferies downgrades to hold and reduces target price to 390 from 400.

Don't mention the tanks....
I don't suppose that it was this announcement; doesn't seem that signficant

I would say there's a catalyst about to become apparent.

Spiked yesterday and pulled back and now this rise. It was laggarding so much I thought the next move was down to £3.

If people think that the supply of tanks to Ukraine is good for QinetiQ then they should consider there holdings.
The good for QinetiQ coming out Ukraine is working on technology that will stop such capabilities that will stop hypersonic missiles etc. Such as QinetiQ with Dragon Fire.

I note that Zelensky is lobbying Nato for additional weaponry, including long-range missiles and artillery. Looks like additional defence spending is a certainty following the supply of tanks yesterday. Has to be a positive for QQ.

Indeed tournesol. However, there was some scepticism whether the deal would actually go ahead, but now US and Germany have signed up, this might encourage other Western nations to follow their lead. I fully agree with your point that defence spending only looks likely to increase going forward.

Increased commitments to defence spending with news that US and Germany are sending tanks to Ukraine has to be good for sentiment here.

Since the Private Equity(PE) deal - it's down from 380. Just look at the DrMartens share price since Private Equity floated it.Why would PE sell out now at a time like this for defence spending?Another concern must be orders being delayed in the USA from the budget wrangles in their Parliaments.

Thanks Wad. I thought the Q3 trading update earlier this week was pretty solid and the outlook was confident. Surprised to note the underwhelming response in the share price. Same today with the IC recommendation. Can't work out what holding it back. Bit frustrating.

IC rates as a BUY today, points out it can ramp up it's production faster than big slow capital projects like carriers and aircraft.

Yes, thank you for that. Was responding to comment that GS lowered estimates for defence SECTOR.

If they thought she share price was significantly undervalued, perhaps they would buy more themselves? It has been a year since any significant buys.
Good to see orders rolling in though , even if they aren't for tanks.

Order announcement today makes me wonder whether management are a bit concerned about the lack lustre share price performance.

It's a shame tournesol, that QQ don't manufacture tanks !

I understand that the UK is to send 14 tanks to Ukraine to set an example to our NATO allies. I read that Ukraine hopes to have 500 tanks by next year. And in addition to the heavy brigade a large number of lighter armoured vehicles are also destined for Ukraine. Possibly aircraft too. Doesn't sound to likely to me that defence manufacturing is entering a downturn.
