you may well be inclined to short the rise, but for what perceived percentage return?

as with all special situations there is a reaction back down after the subsequent rise from "bad news" low. however , in my opinion , the previous low does not get taken out here and i would await any higher low on the chart prior to heavily long again.

i believe the big money has been made on the short side in this stock.

i am not and will not be a long term holder of the stock but i do believe the upside outweighs the downside, in the medium and long term, and i will trade accordingly.

Glenkaz I do admire the fact that you used to be a customer of PFG and turned it around enough to be a shareholder, but blind loyalty in a company that was nice to you is a dangerous strategy in this game. Keep emotions well away from trading. I would happily short a rise on Tuesday.

I'm a very serious trader and I'll always read my papers front to back and then I'll decipher what Cr@p or not they write.

do you really think too many serious traders / investors take the slightest notice of newspaper hacks?

if so, one would suggest you leave Financial Markets well alone.

I'd read The Sunday Times before you look at 20% rises and also take a look at The Mail. Take your money and run and be grateful for the get out of jail card :)

I think Tuesday we could see a 20% rise! Brining share price near 11 then who knows but feel that is still 3x less than year high! I'm sure alot of customers have their arrears in a tea caddie! And for those that don't provident will extend their loan without penalty! As long as they now make regular payments! They could turn it around in weeks and I suspect already on the ball! And each regional office have briefed staff! As someone posted! A gift 🎁

Although I hate thease companies they were much nicer than wonga etc!etc! And cheaper! If I missed a payment I felt bad coz they were nice even the managers! Felt guilty! Wonga etc pure sc/m! When you are skint! You will do anything! Gladly I'm not thease days! Situations change a person you'd be surprised what you would do if broke! Strong buy! At this price! Easy! 🤠✌A039;

I agree NSF is worth a punt or monitoring - especially if poaching disgruntled pgf salespeople with old contacts.

I looked at shares yesterday - they were down but finished up by a penny on day 1.44% ( Hargreaves) previous day up 5.7%

the interesting issue on them is they paid a small dividend in last 2 yrs despite loss making - revenue increased significantly last year and losses per share down

possible buy and hold ex dividend date 21/9/17 50p a share

they are in expansion mode buying George banco this month but heavily indebted - fly or fall - broker recommendation buy

Think the best banks are Secure Trust and Arbuthnot at the moment. Both are very well positioned for the next downturn. If you like risky home collected credit then Non-Standard Finance and Morse's Club must be winning as a result of PFGs own-goal. I will keep watching here, but its way too early to get back in as far as I'm concerned. The original Provie business is going to take month's / year's to turnaround and could yet be closed. Vanquis was great but the FCA investigation casts a dark shadow over the best part of the group. Far too risky.

If they focus the team on short term - collections of outstanding debt with a short term additional incentive it will motivate to recover debts at pace
include in another incentive for area/regional controllers - will galvanise a momentum

Xmas loans are critical for existing customers - with the collectors offering new loans when the outstanding debts are brought in line
this needs to be a two pronged short term approach

bite the bullet and mix the workforce with full and part time - recall good collectors -

ongoing after collections recovery - full consultation with a more thought through ongoing structure and process!

as for investigation into vanquais card - the fine at worst case scenario is not that significant - so short term small hit - media coverage this is not ppi

as for bad press - the customers who take these loans - don't even have bank accounts - pay any intention to media of this nature - have no real alternative

the alternative is what - log book loans , loan sharks etc
A lot of the Wonga style cash for pay cheque operations had gone in recent years - and they were prevalent when Gillespie ran business before

the provy has been around for years as said re-establish customer relationships - collect money outstanding ( enable more loans)- new loans for xmas -

I do agree that the stock will continue to more in both directions but the fall is still far to much - as of www.shorttracker.co.uk this morning only 3.86% outstanding - not a lot less than half of Mondays position

in lateral moving markets - when the likes of pfg move in big % there is a load of interest and opportunity- I would not have entertained this stock without the fall
The upside now in my view is more prevalent than downside - even with drop from ftse100 -more upside

I made a lot of money last week on recovery moves - had brilliant week

I believe £10 next week as still a bounce back - press articles today are very honest and mixed so then a more gradual move daily

the company will not go bust - it will still make over £80 mill profit ( despite current worst case scenario of 120 mill lost on door to door)-- if gets collections back to normal that will be much lower -

not a difficult task - will intense micro management short term -

predictions 2019 £300mill plus again
so will recover back share price above £15 - 2 yrs - I don't have patience to stay invested that long - unless as a fraction of my existing position

Although Woodford has been hammered in press - he has 20% of pfg - I believe he will be like a rash over them this time demand board representation-
in addition when he announces his monthly fund reviews amazed if he hasn't added even more

so yes will move both ways but big gains from shorting have been made

- business issues are self made so can equally be resolved quickly - upside move/momentum will grow - this is a screaming buy for the adventurous

Agree Andy, potential turbulence still in share price yet. But these potential events can happen over many months .

So in the meantime, calm may return to the share from here on in.
