09/6/2008 12:53 | I do get very lonely on this bulletin board. I'm surprised that there aren't many other people around. For an established company in mature markets to be showing such phenomenal growth in a recession is amazing & a testament to the management & their strategy. In the past ECM have always been the daddy in this market, I think PFL are now overtaking them, & quite rapidly. If they carry on like this I wouldn't be surprised if a bid is made for them by funds looking for a good home for their money in uncertain times. | studhaves
07/6/2008 02:56 | I've still got mine open & the extra £7Ks worth I stuck into the SIPP on Monday. I think these will push up to over 190 next week & may approach 200, although I too might have been tempted to take a bit had I been around today instead of away on business. I still think they'll go higher yet though. | studhaves
06/6/2008 16:20 | Banked my profits after it could not hold the rise, big advantage with sbet no cg tax or stamp duty, ideal for short term trades. However feel this has fallen too far now with Wall Street, may go long again in auction. | royaloak
06/6/2008 09:52 | Bought these yesterday on results (sbet), a beautiful daychart! (yesterday that was) | royaloak
06/6/2008 09:31 | Going well today Chart target 200-225 | enami
04/6/2008 11:11 | Well, I think the results for Q1 tomorrow wil be great, I can't see them having done a u-turn since the finals. 180 - 220 within the month I think. | studhaves
02/6/2008 21:11 | RSI back thru' the 30. Bounced off the 200-day MA. Interest returning. | flateric
02/6/2008 08:55 | Quarterly results due out soon.... | studhaves
28/3/2008 08:24 | What can I say another stella rise will take some profit at 220 if we get there | ch1ck
20/3/2008 07:16 | It look like the crowd has not discovered this gem yet its nice to see a site devoid of the usual sniping and ramping. Stella rise yesterday we may see a cut back today which would be an opportunity to buy more but the out look seems rosy. | ch1ck
20/3/2008 00:18 | 19 March 2008 Purchase of Own Preference SharesPremier Farnell plc (the "Company") announces that on 19 March 2008 it purchased in the market 1,000,000 of its cumulative convertible redeemable preference shares of £1 each at a price of £12.75 per share. The number of cumulative convertible redeemable preference shares in issue following this purchase is 4,773,721. The shares acquired by the Company will be cancelled. Crickey, thats a good move - £12.75 million worth of liabilities off the balance sheet! | studhaves
19/3/2008 08:14 | Oh well, if only I'd bought even more yesterday instead of deciding to be conservative... ;) | studhaves
19/3/2008 08:14 | Excellent results, indeed. And a rather better yield than ICI, which it replaced in my portfolio. | deanforester
19/3/2008 08:06 | That's a bit more like it ... | deswalker
19/3/2008 07:11 | Excellent results, raised dividend. Even better than you suggested, studhaves, but you weren't far out! Would like to add to my holding, but will have to wait ubntil after apr 5...so hoping it doesn't rise too much! | rabain
18/3/2008 13:59 | Thanks, but we'll see how good it is tomorrow! | studhaves
18/3/2008 07:07 | Good post studhaves! | rabain
18/3/2008 00:20 | My predictions for the results are (continued operations for comparison): (drum roll please.....) Turnover : £719.29 million (LY £723.3) [-0.55%] Pre Tax Profit : £85.03 million (LY £83.1) [+2.33%] EPS : 12.55p (LY 11.61p)* [+8.03%] *Roughly calculated based on continued operations only. Should hopefully be better than that, they've been quoting growth of 4%ish, but those are the numbers I get. Of course, the exchange rate fluctuations throw a spanner in the works, a 1c weakening of the Dollar = c.£250K off profit per annum, so its difficult to equate that in (I'm no accountant!!). Hopefully the EPS growth (if its right) should lift the share price, but I guess it depends on how the Dollar impacts future business & whether we hit a recession or not. We'll see.... :) | studhaves
17/3/2008 15:23 | Well, results on Weds. Wish they were still a customer of mine, I'd have an idea of how things were going then, although from the last few quarterly updates it should be okay - lots of online growth, plus overseas markets. | studhaves
30/1/2008 08:30 | Studhaves, you are right I rate this stock highly and love the look of the chart. I switched out of Mouchel Parkman to invest in here after reading the CEO's profile and business plans in the Times. Its a solid long tearm hold for me. | ch1ck
29/1/2008 09:06 | Its an unusual stock. I used to work for this company & they are excellent, very robust, excellent management, & a major player in the market place. They're expanding abroad & look very cheap to me. I guess they're just not on most peoples radars yet. | studhaves
29/1/2008 08:39 | The price has opened higher and is climbing but there are no trades showing this is verry unusual. | ch1ck
25/1/2008 08:07 | Good volume coming in now. Looks like this one is about to reverse the trend and start to recover | ch1ck
17/1/2008 17:19 | Spent my ICI money on some of these today at 142p. Nice and quiet, even if it did continue downwards. | deanforester
07/1/2008 10:37 | Its not exciting enough for most people. It looks to be on the turn. | studhaves |
