Only one stock in town today ... RBS :)

I was expecting good results as all the Director buying indicated that things were going well. It's a divi stock for me so my purchase at 160p looks fine even if it didn't quite find the bottom. Hopefully a decent divi increase with the Finals.

Hardly an enthusiastic flurry of activity is there?

Level 2 seems to suggest they'll go up, its just usually the case for me that a company gives really great results & everyone sells.

Mad market.

Nothing surprises me either studhaves but these have to go up on these results. ... dont they?!

If I hadnt already bought back in a while ago I'd have bought at 135p yesterday as I like to try to call the bottom which is often a very bad strategy! Couldnt resist buying a few more WLW at 14.69 the other day though.

I'm a holder but happy for these to keep falling and then hopefully get a top up at bargain price. I will be surprised to see much more of a drop but I've been surprised many times before and keen to wait until its turned the corner (not that thats easy to determine) before making a purchase in present markets.

Its getting to the point where it would make sense for someone like RS (ECM) to buy them out & combine operations. It would make the new entity much more profitable.

Its funny because people will ignore companies like Farnell because its slow & steady, but unlike a lot of small speculative stocks they have a sound, well established & profitable business model, have a large amount of market share, & will keep on ticking away forever. They're also expanding operations in foreign countries.

About as safe as you can get really, & at this level of PE its ridiculously cheap.

I am also sitting on a fair loss here as like you guys I thought I was picking up a bargain at £1.58, obviously my timing was not good and market sentiment has dragged this down, the fundies are good and the value is good so I will be holding on, this will bounce sooner or later

studhaves,

I bought a small slug of these for my HYP when it first dipped below 160p about a month ago. Directors were buying and nobody was looking so I thought I'd spotted an opportunity. Twas not to be :(

I agree they are cheap and management seem to be confident of prospects. I'll be looking to add once sanity returns to the markets. Second line stocks like this won't be the first to rally so there may well be an underperforming period when the market starts to bounce.

Good luck with your spreadbet.

I think these are crazily undervalued now - PE of less than 10.

I opened a spreadbet today on top of my recent share purchase.

Good luck all.

Well,
ECM have posted really good H1 results, so if the market is doing so well then Farnell should post similar results as well for Q3. Interesting to note that ECMs e-commerce has done particularly well, Farnell have spent a lot of effort with their e-commerce side of the business & it has been performing really well too. Roll on the results.

RS have always been much more highly rated than Farnell, historically because they were more profitable, but I don't think thatst he case any more. Just quickly looking at the figures below, I think Farnell is now well under rated.

---------------RS-------Farnell

H1 Turnover---443---------362
H1 Prtx Prof---40.4-------33.8
H1 EPS---------6.1p-------6.3p
LY full EPS----12.9------14.4
Net Debt--------352-------466
M/Cap----------1001-------533
P/E ratio-------19*---------11.7*
* P/E by [(share price/ H1 EPS)/2] - not very scientific I know, H2 is usually better for both, but just for a rough comparison.

Wow, my very own ADVFN stalker.

I've posted how much I bought & at what price for all to see & I won't be selling until they're at 200.

You seem to make a point of going around calling me names & claiming that you have me filtered when clearly that isn't the case - you appear to be hanging on my every word.

Watch & learn papal, & grow up.

The "studhaves" falling effect....... ??

This, imv, very selfish poster, will no doubt have got in at 120p (even though its not possible) and made a small profit when bailing out later (really sold at a loss).

If the ramp fails and the share price keeps falling, then you can expect a bail out job.

I have them filtered, but expect they are trying their best to ramp "high target prices" as they are now holding at a loss.

I was thinking they might drop back as far as 140, but thought today that they were starting to go on the move. I have another chunk of cash i'm going to buy these with but i'll hang fire first. I think they'll be over 200 again within 3 months max.

look at the chart, you have pretty much bought at the cheapest prices for 2 to 3 years, medium term this will be a good buy, everything is down at the moment but markets can turn very very quickly,

I am sitting on a loss here as well having bought at around £1.58 but these offer good value

Well,
I just bought £15K at 157. Hope I called this at the right time & it doesn't drop lower, I have no doubt that they'll see 200 again in the not too distant future.

at these levels these are a bargain,

I am trading them short term but am also happy to hold,

from todays price at £1.56p I think there could be 10% on offer within a month to six weeks

Its a very quiet BB this one!

I used to work for Farnell so I have a soft spot for them, but the question is should I buy now or are they heading lower?

I think I'll hold fire for a short while.
