I think that it demonstrates how little understanding the professionals have of what they read. All it said was that growth would be slower. It didn't say that sales are going to fall off a cliff.

To put this into perspective the company have announced they may finish this quarter lower by 4.6% or more than forcast. Companies are not deserting the company or getting supplied from else where.

News Corp had their advertisers pull out of the News of the World and the share price dropped 3%. PFL on the otherhand fell 21%. This is way over done and shows how fickle the markets are.

I am not calling this the bottom but did buy a large number of shares yesterday and will buy more if it goes significantly lower.

Elect

She is so clever didn't even ask her customers why they overbought in April/May & therefore likely to reduce orders later.
Did she really think the whole world was growing at 8% pa. Even China has been trying to slow its economy whilst Europe/USA desperate to sell even a paperclip.

Drop way overdone by panicing City sheep. So I came back big into this today at an average of 189p. It may not be the bottom but it's close enough.

As for you guys knocking the management. I trained Harriet G as a sales rep at Macro over 30 years ago. What this brilliant women doesn't know about electronic distribution ain't worth knowing.

Yes it is quite a drop, which is exactly the reason this will rebound later today and tomorrow morning.

This will be back around 205-210 tomorrow in my opinion.

Think will take on a bit of risk, last sentence makes the risk reward worth a small punt.

Premier Farnell, the engineering products supplier, has warned sales growth will come in below targets in what the firm describes as "difficult market conditions". The firm says "After two full months of trading in the second quarter, year-on-year sales growth for May and June combined was lower than our target range of 6-8%, at 1.4%". In other words significantly short. The market punished the shares, which opened at around 196.6p, down almost one-fifth from last night's close. Many of the firm's customers took on inventory in April and May to manage the aftermath of the Japanese earthquake but since then a global slowdown has left them overstocked. The group does say, however, that continued focus on its web operations is driving efficiencies, although admitting this will not completely counteract slow sales: "We anticipate that the benefits of these cost actions during the balance of the year will mitigate substantially the impact of the lower sales growth rates, and therefore the board continues to believe that Premier Farnell will deliver profitable growth this year, albeit marginally lower than our previous expectations." BS

the share price is now from 300 in last couple of months, a near 40% drop...so an awful loot of bad news has already been priced in.

Still will be reporting growth for the current year - growth has just slowed down from expected levels..

Fall way overdone..imo

210p plus finish..

I cannot profess to having much in the way of knowledge about PFL.

The company has only come on my radar because of the tumble and the technical levels reached and being tested by this latest fall.

I note the share price had taken a tumble in mid-June after the release of its Q1 results.

I also note that its Balance Sheet has little in the way of asset backing and underlying worth. So doubtless priced purely on the basis of earnings potential. This move down bears all the hallmarks of a share being taken ex-growth.

Interesting technicals, but suspect this share ramped. Never agree with hvs, he can be a pain, but 100% correct on this one. Still in freefall.

Directors clueless! 1st rule of business - know your customers.

Quite a tumble.

Now testing a level equating to a full 61.8% Fibonacci retracement of the entire move up from March 2009 to March 2011 whilst falling deep into oversold territory.

It is not as though the share price was reflecting stellar growth in its P/E ratio to begin with.

Perhaps too oversold and at least due a technical bounce back up to £2.12 before re-testing this share price level.
