It shows that if it's taken the second biggest short accumulated to get the price down only to £14 in a macro market that has seen some huge sell offs in other quality stocks, that probably ain't that bearish.

All it shows is there is a dichotomy of opinion. High numbers of shorters doesn't equal share price falls. Remember when Ocado and Morrisons were the two most shorted companies? Both SPs took off!

Shorters failed to keep the share price down on the 28th Dec- the shorts above 0.5% increased by 0.23% but the share price started at 1340p and ended at 1380p (and no share buybacks by PLUS on the 28th).

(UT at 4:35 today was 1380p)

The TP mentioned above is Telecom Plus that he has held shares in since it first came to market. I can remember buying at £8 and then selling at £18 to buy Plus500 the day before Plus announced its results and the shares jumped significantly after the results.

I sent my post 16749 above to my mentor as far as investing goes, and the person that told me about Plus500 back in 2013 - he knows how to spot a profitable business (he was into ASOS from very early and made huge gains) as well as some lesser known companies. He was also the FD and right hand man to the founder of a company that grew from 4 employees to 120 in the UK, US and APAC, and then sold the business for £35 million. This is his personal reply to me:

"Great stuff. You should add that the company is fundamentally misunderstood.
Comparing Plus 500 to IG etc is like comparing eBay to Sotheby’s. They are all great companies but they serve different markets. More importantly the growth comes from the mass market.

You are correct gambling is massive but this comment misses a point. Most gamblers believe they are using skill and judgement, they do not think of themselves as being reckless. Spread betting appeals to every thinking gambler who believes they are using judgement and it is available 24/7. You do not need to wait for that race or match, you can take a punt at any time. Bored, waiting for an Uber, in a full meeting, you name it there is always a chance for a quick flutter.

By any sane matrix, the fastest growing, best run company in the sector should be standing at a premium, not subject to over 10% of its capital being lent out to short sellers.

Any short seller should be covering their position before the results come out. Given the VIX is now over 30, higher even than in the crypto boom, this last quarter might be spectacular.

If the company has any sense it will commit $100M to share but backs instead of a special dividend and then the short sellers will be squeezed.

All in all a fantastic year. One in which our return on Plus is 75% and TP around 17% in a year when markets have tumbled!

Here to 2019. More volatility is a certainty which means the oncoming clouds will have a great big silver lining."
