Purchase of shares in Plus500 Limited ("Plus500")

Playtech (LSE:PTEC) announces that, following market purchases this morning, the Playtech group now has a total holding of 10,756,067 ordinary shares in Plus500 (AIM: PLUS), representing 9.36 per cent of Plus500's issued ordinary share capital.

In addition to this 9.36 per cent holding, as previously announced on 1 June 2015, Plus500 founders and members of management, representing 35.6 per cent of Plus 500's issued ordinary share capital, have undertaken to procure the vote in favour of Playtech's cash offer of 400p per Plus500 share.

I think we need to know who has bought the 6.6m before we can appreciate the significance. Have Playtech been buying stock in the market at the same price of the offer. If not Playtech then why would somebody spend £26.4m if they weren't expecting to get a return on it? Second scenario is more intriguing than the first.

"My account has also been unlocked. I was not expecting this until the end of June so am quite pleased. I use them for occasional trading as I think that it is a good site and better than most CFD providers. I have some money in there and will be continuing to use the site. After all, I see no point in changing. I like the site and now that I have provided the documentation I am free to trade without needing to provide it again in future. If I move to another site then I shall need to either provide the documentation again meaning more admin and waiting, or if no documentation is requested then there is the risk that the same account freezes could happen at another provider. If the FCA are looking at Plus 500 then it would seem highly likely that they are looking at other CFD and spreadbetting companies as well and may enforce account freezes there too. With Plus 500, I know now that I have passed the documentation test and am free to trade without needing to provide it again."

End game is approaching for anyone short at this stage. Todays share price move was significant, and whether or not PLUS remsins independant marks the start of a realignment to strong fundamentals - the business remains a cash machine. So far to go up, and so much money to make. How exciting !
