RCT - that figures, if you reckon most funds today are either trackers or closet trackers!

The most recent research on this subject has shown that there is very little effect anymore from being included in an index.

I listened to a talk some twenty years ago by a L&G tracker fund manager. Yes they buy and sell in advance, and work actively in other ways to avoid getting obviously shafted by index changes. The less well run trackers do this ineffectively which is one reason they track poorly and often lose money compared to the index they are supposedly tracking.

I don't know if the index funds buy in anticipation, but if they base their buying on the formal list there may be a boost on March 18.

Yeah - well "technically" you're correct. But what's a few days between friends....

If I interpret this correctly, it will be from March 18 but technically isn't yet. I may have it wrong.

The definitive confirmation: hxxps://www.ftserussell.com/files/press-releases/ftse-uk-index-series-quarterly-review-march-2019

Phoenix is now a FTSE 100 company :-)

Correction noted!

Maybe it is JE. instead of AVV then.

doubleorquits - that is NOT confirmation - that was guidance as to likely changes based on a price snapshot on Fridays close. The actual final decision is based on last nights close and is announced after the market closes tonight.

At the top of the document you link to is the following statement:

"PLEASE NOTE: The actual review of the FTSE UK Index Series will be conducted using data as at market close on Tuesday 26 February 2019. Confirmed rebalance changes will be announced after market close on Wednesday 27 February 2019."

Cheers,
PJ

Confirmation:

AVV seems to have made it ahead of JE. - so I got that wrong! However, got the important one correct!

Yep, it seems PHNX has done it in 87th position. JE. will join PHNX in FTSE 100 from March 18th.

Well a slight nudge up at the end of the day to close at just over £7 - that should be enough as far as I can see to put PHNX into the FTSE 100. I think at 89th place - but await tomorrows announcement with interest....

PJ

Well based on share price movements today - it's looking pretty good for FTSE100 membership.

Awaiting market close,

The mkt cap calculations will take place at close of business tomorrow - so PHNX needs to be 90th position or above (unless either WG. or GVC fall below 110th in which case PHNX will need to be the top ranked FTSE250 candidate).

PHNX is 87th at close of market today.
