@ Woodhawk - there is another poster who has adopted the name "johnwig" since earlier this year. What his motives are, I don't know, and I filtered him at an early stage. I myself have been a member since 2004.

For you to filter me would be mutually beneficial.

What an extremely sad little man you are, jonwig. Are you and the other moron you're bigging up related, by any chance? Filtered (too).

PS I get 10% of my calls wrong... but 90% right. I can live with that. LOL.

@ Woodhawk - I thought your moniker was familiar. Yes, from the STOB thread, where you showed the same dismissive and patronising manner. It didn't work out well for you there.

By all means filter RCT (to my mind an investor worth following) and do, please filter me, so that you can no longer visit this thread.

Your STOB history, not too flattering!

Yawn. What on earth do people like you think they're achieving peddling your infantile scare stories? "Footsie dropping", "lower lots of stocks", "value traps". Go and find something more worthwhile to do, you idiot. In the meantime, filtered.

PS I've made good money out of Vodafone over the past couple of years - also looks set for the recent recovery to continue.

Woody, I am an income investor and all the stocks and investment trusts I own pay good dividends. However, I never ignore the capital position as many good dividend payers turn out to be value traps. Vodafone is good recent example of that, there are many others.

Quite true, but I'd still be collecting dividends and reinvesting at cheaper prices. That's how it works, sonny.

The FTSE is currently over 7000. In 08/09 it went to 4000. We haven't had a recession for 10 years. Even the FTSE dropping to 6000 would lower lots of stocks including PHNX.

MACD looking to bottom out and RSI on the retrace North.

If I was waring my sensible trousers I would comment that these look primed to move sharply higher......but then I re-read post 3412.......doh !

People will also sell stable stocks to be able to pick up more distressed stocks elsewhere.

Very reassuring results today. However, there surely has to be a reasonable chance that the PHNX share price will fall below 650p what with the rising levels of uncertainty (Brexit, US-China trade war, Iran...)? In such circumstances company fundamentals often go out of the window, irrationality reigns. I would view such an eventuality as a decent top-up opportunity.

Strong results but this price wants to retrace to 650p in a hurry, which is frustrating.

I suppose it would be prudent to accept these will be stuck in range of 650-725p and just use these for income ?

I was going to add yesterday, good job I didn'treally. I shall wait for the upcoming 650p, which looks assured to me, but won't be long till it gets there, which helps in an ugly way.

Agreed edmundshaw: The life insurance sector continues to consolidate and the M&A pipeline remains strong. We are ready to do deals that meet our acquisition criteria and I am confident that Phoenix will continue to be the market leader in this consolidation process.

Looks good to me. RCT - Not sure 650p will be reached now.

Looks fine. After the big tie-ups in recent years, a period of consolidation is just what is needed; but I am sure we won't have to wait too long for the next big acquisition...
