01/5/2018 21:48 | Very strong outcome for an often soft first quarter and a strong forward message in those numbers :-) | andyble
01/5/2018 21:11 | So that's pretty good. Strong beat on eps, revenues just about in line and 2Q guidance perhaps slightly ahead of expectations. Revenues $1.578bn non-GAAP eps 73c GAAP eps -7c 2Q guidance: non-GAAP eps 72c-77c, revenues $1.760bn to $1.810bn | 1gw
01/5/2018 20:50 | Just for reference. According to the Arris site, median and mean analyst estimate for 1Q is for 53c/share non-GAAP earnings with a fairly tight range (51c-55c). The guidance for 1Q that Arris gave with 4Q results was for $1.575bn to $1.625bn revenue and non-GAAP eps of 50c-55c (GAAP eps of -43c to -38c i.e. GAAP loss). For 2Q, median analyst estimate (again according to the Arris site) for non-GAAP eps is 71c with a range of 66c-76c. (errors excepted) | 1gw

27/4/2018 12:15 | Nice little boost from the dollar today | bashor
26/4/2018 21:08 | hades1 - If successful in acquiring Sky, I believe they (Comcast) would not want to keep an Amstrad operation as it is not part of their core business. I would expect them to dispose (divest) of it to a company similar to Arris!!!! | alexmcdonald
26/4/2018 20:56 | Not sure the Sky boxes and associated kit will be a match for the X1 though. I would have thought Comcast would want to port the X1 over to Europe for economies of scale and (they would think) better user experience. As a Comcast shareholder myself these days it hasn't been a great time shareprice wise recently, with some concern about what they might end up paying for Sky I think, but the business itself looks in good shape. In yesterday's results they announced they'd got to over 60% of their residential video customers having the X1, and they forecast cable capital expenditure to go down this year as a % of revenues. In 1Q it went down 5% in absolute terms, due to lower spending on cpe, although they continue to highlight increased investment in scalable infrastructure. So it seems to me, now they're over the hump of X1 spend in the US, it's exactly the right time to try to build overseas presence and try to duplicate the success there. | 1gw
26/4/2018 20:18 | Careful if Comcast buy Sky they will not need ARRIS. Sky have their own technology and process. Pretty sure that is one of the many reasons they WANT Sky. | hades1
26/4/2018 17:55 | I find some of Technicolor's comments somewhat surprising in terms of bullishness re relative success in connected home, but taking that at face value as well as the equally surprising open pricing strategy re components, this all rather reads across well for who are actually likely industry leaders. For info again | andyble
26/4/2018 14:33 | I see Technicolor is having a rough day today after posting results yesterday. It looks like the cost pressures re memory prices are persisting & have not improved. However, good to see that Technicolor (as Arris announced last quarter) have indicated that they are no longer prepared to absorb the increases & take a hit. Hopefully this will help maintain a level playing field for Arris. | amphiprion
26/4/2018 11:32 | Now that Comcast has formalised its intention to buy Sky, how is this likely to affect Arris? | alexmcdonald

24/4/2018 18:30 | Well I am still riding this same vehicle but as before expect that journey to take longer than I hope which means counting the miles perhaps. Although undervalued I would expect it to rise naturally to a map of the eps accounting gains which includes wheeling out much real inner cash. Moreover albeit with some boring mature business the cash engine should keep motoring no matter how many decades people say the cords are too thin. The plus side is that the other passenger businesses are vip as in very impressive performers and anything that supports a bigger band width to pump the bits around is going to be on a ride to greater destinations as a natural tour de force. The dollar is no longer fuelling the drive forward and has left it looking as if a flat but that might also highlight some value and it may over take again. I am missing the car I bought from last time which is in the garage for a rather long service leaving me with too much time. Having travelled this road before I am looking to this to buy my next one too in another distant time horizon and another story. | andyble
24/4/2018 12:52 | Thoughts on investing here for the first time? ---- hard to do this objectively with having a 10 year history with this share. But if you hadn't, do you think the pro's look like they out-way the cons in terms of an investment stock. For me I feel the share has been languishing for some time as the model for the company has been redefining itself over the last few years. I am not sure it has shaken the negative thoughts of cord cutting and Apple taking over the world. To me that doomsday clock seems to have been wound back quite a bit. Might be a good time to consider increasing my position on this. Thoughts? | 1carus
