02/4/2018 16:04 | o/t (GNC) - Bashor - that's an awful lot of short positions to go up against. It's not just 1 or 2 hedgies taking a punt. Unless you really believe you know the business inside out I would respectfully suggest you might be missing something! No idea what that might be though. Personally I think I would wait until I saw some evidence of a trend of short positions reducing before taking a long position there. | 1gw

30/3/2018 09:18 | "In a remarkably upbeat Investor Day conference for financial analysts in New York on Wednesday, Arris Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS) officials extolled their opportunities for boosting revenues, profits and market share across a wide swath of cable, broadband, video, wireless and enterprise sectors as they prepare to spend a record $700 million on R&D this year. They also expressed enthusiasm for striking more M&A deals, just a few months after closing their big acquisition of Ruckus Wireless late last fall, and promoted the potential of CBRS technology." | andyble

23/3/2018 09:15 | Indeed quite so ... have been trying to refind an analyst's comment about this in recent months ... have not but to paraphrase the quote it was noting that Arris could retire a meaningful proportion of their stock if they maintain this buyback strategy ... I recall a scale of a quarter within a small number of years ... that is a lot of stock and at a very low cost of capital ... so an almost pro rata impact on the potential share price in due course ... assuming enough to still continue M&A for more growth. We can conclude too that Arris are happy to see or even encourage the share price to rise which could be defensive or to create opportunities, and as they said it is a good use of cash at the current stock price levels which I read as cheap as chips ... reminds me too that DRAM and NAND prices continue to drift down :-) | andyble

22/3/2018 21:30 | that is one major increase in buyback permission from $300 million to $500 million, and thus far they have used only 25m at 25.34 average....so some serious firepower for the future?? | waggle
