Well this market has zero patience, if they are not flying nobody touches anything now.

It's just a totally different market.

On the plus side for OPG it's 12p bid, it was 6p bid a year ago so it has double from 12 months ago.

12.17-12.64p

They’re loath to make any forward statements of any kind, which is not really surprising. They say that the construction costs of their current capacity is more than double the book value of their plant. Indian electricity demand is growing by around 10% pa, capacity is not keeping pace. The Golbug thesis is that profitability of thermal power generation has to increase if capacity is to keep pace with demand. If that transpires, the company will be highly profitable and the extra cash generated will answer investor queries about dividends, buy backs and debt repayment. It just won’t all happen overnight. But that’s nothing new.

Nothing here to impress short term holders. Long termers must like the commitment to getting best value for all decisions. No headlong rush to waste money on M&A or capex for the sake of growth and being seen to be active. I like this approach but no clarity on dividends or buy backs. None likely anytime soon? Debt repayment still the focus and retaining cash/funds for flexibility on working capital.

If nobody will touch it because it's "dull" then the only answer to get value is buybacks.

Cavendish 27p price target.

OPG Power has published interim results for the period ended 30 September. The company reports a strong balance sheet position and a sharp increase in plant utilisation driven by new supply contracts as discussed at the time of the FY23 results release in November. We believe that OPG continues to make a strong recovery following the coal price spike which impacted FY23. We are raising our target price to 27p, which represents 108% upside to the latest closing price.

Margins should be higher in H2 as they transition away from selling to IEX and instead to state utilities. As they say, state utilities have slower payment schedules so net cash will be lower - the cost of doing more profitable business.

With those numbers already out in India the bulk of the profits was made in the second half of the interims so now the coal price is back to normal then they should be able to sustain these profits H2 so they should be making at least £10 million PBT which is easily going to smash the broker forecast which is what seems to matter these days

When you see £30 mil stocks with net debt making small profits rise on results and outlook it makes you wonder what this stock has to do.

Surely the rerate starts here now, it's very good value in a market where most stocks are struggling to make a penny

Look at those 2 delayed buys by the same person

150k at 13.25p and 111k at 13.3p

You could buy at 13.05p before those trades wonder if the limits on Monday will have changed.

Unless of course interims arrive

Net zero is a con anyway, see Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber’s latest comments. Part of the con is believing there is such a thing as carbon offsets. I recommend the Daily Sceptic website for an alternative perspective on net zero.

Hopefully you don’t believe the founders of ER and their global counterparts care about carbon emissions? All these organisations are funded by billionaire’s foundations, some of these billionaires inherited their money from the family shareholdings of oil companies. Last I looked, these billionaires all have private jets to avoid the masses, and personal carbon emissions totally inconsistent with their supposed ideologies. But what else they have in common is large investments in taxpayer subsidised green energy projects. Follow the money as they say. I’m happy to invest in a business that helps raise living standards in India.

Indeed. You might tell that to Extinction Rebellion the next time they bring London or elsewhere to a standstill! (Never mind China......)

Latest official stats show coal fired power generation growing by 16.4% in the 12 months to November, following growth of 39% in the 12 months to October. Obviously these are data following the end of the interim results period.

I believe the company has sought a mandate to buy back shares at the AGM for several years now. In the past, profitability didn’t warrant executing one. Obviously that might change in the current FY.

The idea that there would be a trading update at the AGM is absurd! The interim results should be published next week, that’s where you will find an update! I didn’t attend the AGM, it’s a long way to travel, but I may well go next year instead.
I tend to agree with Goldbug that any buyback will be via a tender rather than open market purchases.

The AIM stock market in London has failed this company. If I was them I would want to take it private with a view to merging it with an Indian entity at some stage in the future.

Obviously it would be a very delicate issue at what price this is done. Clearly it should be near book value or a reasonable discount to that.

Tender for shares to take it private would require a voteThey own the majority of the company anyway. What % voting rights do they need to take it private ?
