25/10/2024 16:21 | Down 0.18% today brings the weeks nr to down 1.65% and the ytd to +4.15%. Good weekend all. One way or the other the budget on Wednesday can't come quickly enough. Zero direction at present and drift had set in. Good weekend all. | scottishfield
25/10/2024 16:18 | Thanks Aleman, we're hoping there will still be some colours around Derwent Water but that sounds doubtful? | mrphil
25/10/2024 16:08 | is this a good share | misoolisland
25/10/2024 16:03 | -0.1%. YTD +3.0%. No wind today so it felt mild but it's looked like winter otherwise. It's drizzled all day and not cleared the mist so cars have been driving about with headlights on and it now looks to be thickening a bit. There are a lot of nearly bare trees about after a week of heavy leaf fall and a lot sweeping up! 13.6C after 10.8C Have a good weekend all, and a good break, MrP. | aleman
25/10/2024 15:53 | Worst day for some considerable time, half of it down to LLOY. Awful week -1.67% so YTD now reduced to +6.53% Leaving for The Lakes early on Sunday and don't intend to go near the screen until the end of next week. Won't be able to avoid budget announcements and worrying we will be near the top of high mountains! Enjoy your weekends and next week. MrP | mrphil
25/10/2024 15:31 | Bit of a horror end to an awful week, not looking forward to the figures. Just glad I reduced on LLOY a couple of weeks ago but I still probably have too many! | mrphil
25/10/2024 13:33 | The whole thing has been badly handled with rumours being allowed to circulate about what crazy plans they have come up with. Not helped by Starmer's inability to give an answer to any question, he seems to reply on a completely different subject - even Trump makes more sense half the time! | mrphil
25/10/2024 12:42 | Hopefully this will become a major life defining moment in his prime ministerial tenure :- | skinny
25/10/2024 12:36 | Good news there DrB 👍 | carpingtris
25/10/2024 12:35 | Good news about you sister in law DrB. The market feels like a daily death by a thousand cuts. | skinny
25/10/2024 12:32 | I feel the indices are mocking me. I'm currently 0.6% down with 22-5 to the reds. 6 currently YTD lows hit. Really feels like there is nothing optimistic at all. I guess we should be looking at stocks that would benefit from govt spending? Better news for my sister in law, her cancer has only spread to a couple of lymph nodes so is early stage 2 and should be fully curable. Possibly the only goods news I've had this month. | dr biotech
25/10/2024 12:15 | I take it that is what is hitting LLOY. | skinny
25/10/2024 12:13 | Two aspects to this - short term could see financed sales suspended at many car retailers and the longer term could see reduced lending availability until balance sheets recover from provisions/compensat | aleman
25/10/2024 10:01 | A belated good morning to all. We have had constant drizzle here so far despite no rain predicted until afternoon and nothing showing on radar anywhere near us. Looking like being a down day to close a down week. | aleman
25/10/2024 09:22 | Morning everyone. Dark and dank outside . A good day for making chutney :-) Politicians make me sick. Quiz = 2/7 | philanderer
25/10/2024 09:07 | Feel angry at the way Starmer views people with savings and the shi## he spouts... saving should be encouraged and pretty sure the UK would be better for it rather than having everyone live month to month and fall into debts... they've definitely got it all backwards imo.. I didn't vote for them.. | carpingtris
25/10/2024 08:34 | Nearly 50 years of hard graft and prudent saving for my retirement whilst giving jobs to hundreds of people over that time and I'm obviously considered a prime target. BTW, usual 2/7 on the quiz. | mrphil
25/10/2024 08:12 | Morning Quiz 1/7, dreary outside as well as in with reds predominating. | blueliner
25/10/2024 08:03 | Further to the link in post 90191 :- What a condescending @@@@@@@ !! | skinny
25/10/2024 07:32 | If you've got a pension are you not a shareholder?? Guess all those that are contributing to pensions whilst working aren't really working... would Starmer prefer we don't save for retirement and all become burdens on the state instead.. | carpingtris
25/10/2024 07:28 | Morning, Mr P they are politicians lying comes with the job. Another red start to the day. 1/7 for quiz. | malcolm caton
25/10/2024 06:39 | Morning All. Not only are this lot going to bring in typical socialist actions, but they are doing it in a very underhand way, trying to blame everyone but themselves. I originally felt at least Starmer seemed honest (if a bit naive) but it turns out he can certainly give the last lot a run for their money in the porkies stakes. | mrphil |
