Down a £ or two.

Dr Bio, I'm getting occasional pain under my sternum amongst a few intermittent pains. Scans might have something to say about it. Oh, the joys of getting old. Thanks for the good wishes.

Nearly nodded off but did not. Feel groggy and fancy an early night now. Mrs A rang and voted for pizzas so that's easy. Brightened this afternoon but never warm in that cold northerly. 10.3C after 4.3C

I too wish you well Aleman.

I finished down 0.69% - mainly due to financials.

10C the high today, but no sun and that ever present cold wind.

We are off to Porto Santo in a couple of weeks and we were going to go to Gatwick by train to London Bridge and thence to Gatwick - ALSEF have scuppered those plans with their latest strikes - so M25/M23 and £95 cab fare it is!

disappointingly the earlier big gainers not managing to hold onto their gains. Would have made 3 up days in a row.

SREI, CMCX, PHNX, BT.A, AV., worst fallers.

SUP, BHP, RIO, leading gainers, miners steady despite metal futures falling.

Another unseasonal day with a chill in the air. Max 10C.

Aleman, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Trying out a new beer tonight, Adnams Big Skies Hopped IPA 6.7% ABV.

The SIPP was comfortably up but the Drawdown managed to fall by more, despite LLOY recovering! -0.06% AV., SSE & TATE

Our tennis last night was enjoyable, albeit the overall standard of our little group has fallen with one member barely able to walk and another forgetting he has to move! I need the odd game of singles to keep me excited!

Having things wrong with your guts always feels miserable. I thought I had a hernia some years ago - felt something go in my groin area and suffered the classic symptoms. When I went to the GP he felt around a bit and said I didn't have one where I thought but probably had one just underneath my sternum. I'd never been bothered by it before or since, and its probably still there.

Odd day for me, more reds (biggest fallers AV/AUSC/OTB) than blues, but a significant rise in my largest holding KITW was enough to keep me above the line (+0.07%).

Tennis this evening.

Went grocery shopping at SBRY and getting sore now. Seems to be liquid swelling, rather than air, which is what happened to me last time. (Digestion already normalised.) When irritated, my immune system attacks my hernia meshes sometimes and I just sswell up until I can rest it off. I've done what I have needed to do for today and have bought some pizzas and quiches so I do not have to cook as such for a couple of days. I spent over £100 for the first time in ages, despite getting over 16% off with Nectar, since I stocked up on coffee which was on offer. There seemed a few more offers on this week and I did not spot any price rises but still a couple of items out of stock. Roads and store were quiet, but I say that a lot these days.

Tired now. Might have a nap when the kids get in if they settle down.

Aleman, I seem to remember they usually fill you up with air to open up the passage for the tube? Last one I had we had to keep the windows open in the car all the way home until the pressure eased! I reckoned if I had jumped into the sea, I could have propelled myself to the Isle of Wight on gas emissions alone!

I have mixed feelings about it. I do bit of each - most of the stuff I do at home is reports and emails and then I have to visit customers. Our office is 3 hrs away and there is little point me going there. Some people I have worked with since covid I've never met. But I get out a lot socially - particularly tennis.

My wife went from 100% office to 100% WFH and now does a mix of both. They have a call centre and when that switched to WFH productivity dropped - this is easy to monitor as the amount of calls fell. So they are going to have to go back in, which some are complaining about as they can't get anyone to look after their kids etc. Its changed the mindset to arranging life around your job to arranging your job around your life.

Currently more reds than blues for me.

Aleman, slightly different doing what you are doing from home, with no set hours etc. But imagine working for a business on fixed hours and never actually meeting your work colleagues for any sort of social engagement. I know you get out plenty which is great. Hope the bloated feeling passes (no pun intended!) and I am sure a good walk will help.

Going for a walk, today, MrP, thanks. Feel a bit bloated so far.

I have been investing from home for nearly 20 years and feel getting out to exercise and socialise is very important because it can get very lonely when things are not going your way and you get stressed. I miss the "water cooler" chat of a busy work environment considerably and the sympathy and gallows humour when in need of cheering up after bad developments - but just the socialising generally that helps one feel a part of one's business and local community.

Morning All.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Aleman, sounds like you need to be taking more gentle exercise for a while.

Skinny, I generally detest all this WFH nonsense which has caused so much trouble to the economy, destroyed customer service and caused no end of problems with people's mental health where they are cooped up all day with no social contact. I'm trying to get my eldest son to go back into the office at least a couple of days each week but he is adamant he wants to shut himself away in his converted garage for around 10 hours each day.

I'm up +0.166% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.261%).

Best rises: BA. +1.82%, BLND +1.60% and IGG +1.31%.

Worst falls: S32 -2.40%, SMDS -1.41% and DGE -1.33%.

Armms spending going up, helps BA. SMDS follows IP further down. Dollar also weaker against the GBP.

Just been organising a transfer to Digital Voice. Our phones needed replacing anyway.

Retinopathy scan went OK. Mrs DF had to drive me home, which was a better than expected experience.

Sorry to hear that Aleman - I missed the fact that you were in the wars.

Well done on the Quiz DrB - I used to enjoy our Monday evening pub quiz, which never recovered after covid.
