MrP - my 'risky' holdings.

AEG -98.34%
SCIR -96.90%
EQT -93.64%.
ORCP -90.93%
PPS -87.56%
SAE -82.51%

There are more, also my English mining disasters SXX and WLFE - both 100% losses for me and both subsequently taken over and still trading - the former by AAL no less.

My appointment this morning confirmed what I'd suspected - Arthritis in my neck and shoulder, coupled with some tendon and nerve problems.

Good morning. Mistiness starting to burn off here.

OECD forecast UK 2024 GDP at 0.4%. So, basically, they are saying that the UK continues in a per capita recession moderated only by unusually high levels of net immigration.

Finished up 0.2%

KITW biggest mover - its now my most profitable trade of all time given I bought quite a large holding to begin with. VLX biggest faller.

Tennis in the drizzle this evening. Never really rained heavily enough to make us stop, but by the end I was quite damp and the balls had all fluffed up.

I'm down -0.198% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.281%).

Worst falls: WDS -3.45%, HLN -2.54% and BP. -2.11%.

Best rises: GSK +1.91%, TSCO +1.25% and BT.A +1.22%.

Glaxo obviously hit the right note with their Q1 figures. Oils a bit uneasy.

A nice lunch today, Duck, brocolli and new potatoes. We had our booster injections this afternoon. Tomorrow I have a haircut.

MrP - I can beat your list - I'll post tomorrow. Although I've banked plenty on AFC, ITM and CWR.

I finished down 0.18% - mainly due to the aforementioned CWR (-7.94%).

A pretty reasonable day weather wise, with rain forecast to return overnight.

I've got a session booked tomorrow with a new physio, in an attempt to get some respite from my ongoing (3years) shoulder problem.

Portfolio -0.53%. Wicked day for my lot mainly caused by BP and SHEL ,where I’m very overweight. ROR and WTB which rose on updates yesterday as usual gave it back today.

Enjoyable day trip to Marbella. Not really a place to revisit, but a very nice lunch. 24C blue skies and a breeze.

+0.4%. No notable movers but a few more blue than red and they also tended to be larger investments.

It was a little humid and the sun eventually came out properly just as I started mowing on what turned out to be the warmest day of the year. I could have done with yesterday's wind. I took 10 bags of still slight damp, clogging grass so it was hard work - which I didn't really want but that's the way it goes sometimes. I'm feeling a bit sore but the swelling from last week has all just about gone now and I'm trying to get back to normal activity. The garden does look a lovely shade of green after all that rain and a freshly mowed lawn contrasting with the apple blossom and 3 colours of bluebells. 21.5C after 9.0C, beating local Met Stations comfortably again.

We have a new field sales person started today so I have been training her in the ways of EV's as she apparently had issues last night trying to remove the cable whilst charging. Simple case of pressing the unlock button on the fob which tells the car to stop charging and allows you to release the cable, but at least she knows now! So that's five EV cars on the fleet now plus our EV van.

I have come to the (late) conclusion that I have accumulated far too many "risky" plays in the SIPP. Some have come good but others have so far been terrible investments leaving me with the dilemma whether to stick with them or just cut my losses. The list in the firing line are:-

PHE
PODP
RBGP (sold yesterday)
SAE
SCLP
SNG
TEK

These alone have taken 3% off of my total value which isn't great but then to be fair AFC made me more than that on it's own so maybe I am worrying too much as this is the way with AIM shares!

It was a close call for CUSN but they seem to have come good today so are being excused for now!

Skinny, it is ludicrous that people on the State Pension will be paying income tax. I think it might have been yourself that pointed out a while back that they may also have to do a tax return due to static tax bands which is nuts.

I may need to consider an EV when we change our car MrP as I suspect John Swinny will become Scotlands next FM and he will undoubtedly resurrect the coalition with the Greens. They are hard left, high tax, high spend, ban your boiler types.

Earlier gains for the folio seem to have evaporated, looking flat at the moment. Fed Chairman speaking later today likely to affect the market somewhat.

There's very little inflation showing in company results. SBRY keep nudging an odd price up in an unjustified manner but it's nothing like last year's big rises and follows some reductions earlier in the year. Petrol and diesel have edged up a bit but are actually similar to where they were 2 years ago. It seems strange that the world still thinks we have an inflation problem that needs a real interest rate of around 2%+. Gilts are still showing roughly 5 x 0.25% cuts in the next 12m and 3 the year after. It's really not changed that much. It's not so much that mortgage rates are high now. It's more a case that they were oddly low a few years back and can't really be expected to fall back that much from here. My mortgage rate is 1.49%. I was surprised how low it was when I got it and I never expected the next one to be anywhere near that low. Maybe some people were naive enough to think they'd stay close to zero?

But it does make a good scare story

Looks like a relative of red hobbit MrP.

When you actually stop and take stock of the tax screw turned by the conservatives its quite staggering.

My wife, who is a WASPI, still continues to run her own small business.

But the small income that she takes, together with the state pension, means that financially its hardly worth the effort of working.

Its a ludicrous state of affairs that people who rely only on the state pension, will be paying income tax in the not to distant future.

wllm, maybe time to get that EV?! Lots of people have their solar rigged up that any excess automatically goes into their EV. Certainly worth doing before you get on the Smart Export Guarantee. Talking of which, we had the same problem having to wait for the DNO to get themselves organised, then we're having additional issues with Eon keep asking for copies of emails and images they have had for weeks! Our new work system was installed at the beginning of December and we applied for the SEG in February but are still waiting!

Another one of our regulars has popped up in the garden...

Totally agree MrP, I've been saying for several years that the current Conservative Gov are Conservative in name only. I too believe a Labour Government will be much the same as the current lot. I don't trust any of them to be honest, especially, after the Pandemic and how it was handled.

My REIT's doing well today.

I've not heard much about their policies Aleman, at least nothing negative, I think their strategy is to say very little so as not to scare off the voters. Hopefully they won't tax ISA's, I sold the remaining stocks in my share dealing account a few days ago and will transfer these funds into my wife's and my ISA's. There are quite a few relatively safe stocks around paying 8-10% yields. If I can avoid any landmines in the coming years that should build a very healthy income to see us to our state pensions in approximately 10 years.

MrP, our solar installation has more than halved our energy bills but, we can't export excess electricity to the grid until we get a letter from our DNO confirming they are aware it's been connected, apparently, this takes nearly 3 months, in the meantime any excess energy is sent back to the grid for free, what a scam.

Morning All.

Aleman, I am sure dividend income will be clobbered if and when labour get in but to be honest that's not really any different to this lot who have already drastically reduced that and CGT allowances. I guess they have been thinking if they act like labour we won't notice the difference?! I pretty much emptied my pot outside of any ISA/SIPP recently as it's just getting all too hard to try and make any money without losing most of it in one tax or another. For the first time ever, I am actually thinking from a personal financial point of view it may not be any worse under labour, and that's a worrying thought! Just about all of my divi income is now inside the ISA or SIPP, with the exception of those from my own business but with all the extra costs that now incurs (increased minimum wage, increased business rates, increased corporation tax rates etc etc), there is unlikely to be much in the way of dividends there anyway!

Not a bad start to the day with CUSN & LLOY currently vying for top spot.

Good morning. Sold the IGR for a modest profit overall for the holding, previous day top-up and same-day limit order - not a massive gain as I was a whisker under water but taken in fairly short order for a stock paying no income yet. I would have been happy to hang on to them as I think they will come (very?) good in the long run, but the short-sighted market will be surprised when all the cash disppears at the interims in a few months, eaten up by the Christmas stock-build. Maybe they will announce an interim dividend? Anyway, I now have a lump of cash to hunt out income again. I'm already probably headed for a record income year. The cash from this could add pushing 10% to it when reinvested.

Anyody heard any rumours as to what Labour might do to dividend income when they get in?

Bit of a hazy start but brightening.
