Worsening credit card quality numbers seem to be getting dismissed as a return to normal. I have concerns about how rapidly they are deteriorating.

Mixed. +0.1%.

Strong sun after a frosty start but cloudy and cooler after lunch. 10.2C after 0.4C.

Nobody seems to have cottoned on to the fact that prices actually fell last month, both RPI and CPI down a smidgeon.

The Consumer Price Index fell 0.56% between December and January as shown in the link I gave earlier (127.164 to 126.447). The UK also has an iffy rentals index input that is probably making CPI look to be rising more than the reality. Should we be still talking about rate rises if prices actually fell significantly in the latest month? Do we need a deflation problem before they consider pausing?

I'm up +0.532% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.553%).

Best rises: IMI +2.28%, TATE +2.14% and VOD +2.06%.

Worst falls: LLOY -2.62%, WDS -1.17% and GSK -0.90%.

I wonder if IMI have risen on account of its ammunition aspect? VOD continues its rise. WDS and GSK both down a second day.

All time highs, of course.

Another late goal conceded by the hornets and a 1-1 draw. Not a bad result, but hurts to concede after 94mins. We are slipping out of the playoffs.

Yesterdays landmine was UPGS, today it is Barclays. Another huge misconduct fine. It can't be that difficult to play within the rules surely? Not a big position for me but the 10% hit is still significant. Still bonus pool was hit too bad so we can all sleep easy.

We recently ordered some of our extruded aluminium profile from the extruders and would normally expect to wait 8-10 weeks for it to be produced, but one lot has already arrived in about a week! I'm guessing they're not too busy at the moment!

Good luck finding another, MrP. The UK job market has always seemed extremely inefficient for some reason.

With about 5 weeks left of normal drawdown season - maybe less with usage down 15%+ - EU reserves of 66% are running at very high levels and look set to finish well above 50%, compared to around 26% last year.

Morning All.

Aleman, I love Edinburgh. Interestingly, in the early years of our business, Edinburgh was one of our most important areas for business. We handled some great projects there and many of the fittings we supplied all that time ago are still working away quite happily.

Having found someone for our sales admin role, they lasted a week before deciding it was not for them but, to be honest, they had major issues and I doubt there is any position suitable for them at the moment. Have restarted all the adverts and have so far not had a single reply from anyone remotely from these shores.

My lot are nearly all red this morning with just two or three showing any signs of positive territory on the day.

I hope to avoid the Magpies next year - and I'm assuming they'll go up one way or another.

UK inflation for the 3 months from Oct to Jan is +0.2%. When annualised, 0.8% is below target! They should be cutting now instead of looking back to a spike that is long gone.

UK and EU gas keep edging to new lows, despite cold weather predicted for Europe next week and an outtage in Norwegian supply.

Morning everyone.

Another cold one last night and a thick frost. Sunny now :-)

Aleman , sounds like a nice break in Scotland and good to see The Bantams doing so well now. A win for The Magpies as well yesterday.

Good morning. Cold sunny start. Last night's fog has gone. If I was up 0.3% on Monday, then I was down 0.1% yesterday.

I had a quick look at US CPI. Rents in the US have been falling quite quickly for a few months according to private sector indices. The imputed rent element in US CPI was up 0.7% m-o-m and it makes up 1/3rd of the index. How does the BLS think rents are still rising if everyone else says prices and rents are falling? It's an anomaly that is drawing criticism from pundits. And the Fed is going to increase rates again on the back of it???

Gattaca recruitment (-9%) say business has weakened since the turn of the year so UK labour markets are clearly not tight any more.

We went up to Edinburgh at short notice to take advantage of early half-term sunny weather and look at a (used) car. The car's clutch failed on its test drive. They said it would be sorted but there a few minor issues that were enough to make me doubt previous care so we left it. The two night break was very nice. I'd been up Arthur's Seat as a kid and always wanted to take the family up but never got around to it. The view was amazing - probably the best of it's kind in the UK, given the spectacular view of the city, the ships and ports in the Firth of Forth and the distant greenery and hills. The snake of people going up and down seemed to be all foreign, youngish and not very fit. I rolled my ankle and fell on a small protrusion in the sandy lower trail when we were nearly back to the bottom and ended up hobbling for a while until the swelling went down, revealing a rainbow of colours. It's stiff but seems to be working okay. Everywhere we went, seemed to be expensive and very busy. We stayed near a nice beach opposite Edinburgh at Aberdour. Mrs A amusingly lost an old walking boot to quicksand as the tide came in. Rural roads on that side were atrocious with pot-holes.

The Bantams turned in another good win, helped by new recruits that have done well themselves and transformed the overall team performance. The ball rarely goes into touch while we're in possession now and we're starting to see some nice one-touch interchanges and driving up the pitch better instead of just passing aimlessly side to side. It's much better. We look like a League 1 side and good enough to go up now if we can keep finding goals. We still flagged after 65 minutes but I think fitness might be improving. Recent performances suggest a play-off spot and autos are not yet out of reach. Fingers crossed. I hope we go up but don't play QPR next year!

I've seen some relegations at QPR in my time but this team is right up there. As for tonight's 0-3, no effort at all. Couldn't even score a penalty to make it 1-1. They've downed tools for sure. One win in eighteen now and from top to 17th in a couple of months.

I'm down a few coppers at -0.002% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.079%).

Worst falls: WDS -2.94%, UU. -2.05% and GSK -1.18%.

Best rises: VOD +3.43%, BT.A +3.13% and LLOY +1.36%.

WDS put out an update which must have spooked the market. VOD continues to rise, taking BT.A with it.

Did some weeding this morning, 3 bags to the tip.

Home slightly earlier than expected. It's misty murky and cold with a fog warning. I turned off the central heating on the basis of 13C predicted for Yorkshire when we left. It did hit 12.9C (yesterday?) but it's currently 3.5C and has been -0.7C at some point. Where did the southerlies and rain for Tues go? It's only 9C in the house so it will take some warming up. We did pass through 13C on the road near Penrith so there is warm weather about but a sunset-powered weird doomsday started at Scotch Corner so it just shows what cold pooling in lack of wind and fog can do.

Got to sort dinner and get ready for football so will report later.
