14/2/2023 14:17 | Stock futures were largely flat Tuesday morning after the January consumer price index report showed that inflation grew at a 6.4% annual rate, slightly higher than expected. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 41 points, or 0.12%. S&P 500 futures slipped 0.23%, and Nasdaq-100 futures ticked 0.41% lower. Treasury yields were also largely flat following the inflation report. The consumer price index rose 0.5% for the month, which translated to an annual gain of 6.4%. That was slightly higher than economist estimates of the basked of goods and services rising 0.4% on the month and 6.2% on the year, according to a survey by Dow Jones. In addition, the December report was revised to show a slight gain instead of a decline. | philanderer
14/2/2023 12:12 | Would be nice to see CUSN get a little boost at some point, has drifted a bit low for my liking! | mrphil
14/2/2023 11:49 | My lot are nicely up at the moment but let's see what happens later. Off out for lunch with friends shortly, been a busy few days for meeting up with people. | mrphil
14/2/2023 11:43 | Back from the dental hygenist. Still cold and a thick fog outside. | philanderer
14/2/2023 09:38 | Main market mover later today.. "...Eyes will be on US inflation data that is reported on Tuesday. The headline rate of inflation is expected to fade to 6.2% in January, from 6.5% in December, according to FXStreet cited consensus. Core consumer price inflation is to ease to 5.5% from 5.7%. | philanderer
14/2/2023 09:36 | Moning everyone. That was a cold night and still a thick mist out there. Disappointing UPGS reaction to the update but at least the rise in VOD is helping. Off to the dental hygenist in a minute. | philanderer
14/2/2023 08:58 | Seems “inline” isn’t enough for UPGS. It’s 5% of my holdings so that will dent the figures. | dr biotech
14/2/2023 08:24 | Good morning. A lovely walk to get the paper - brilliant sunshine lasering through the thick frost on contact. FTSE new all time high earlier @7996.35. On edit - I've just noticed at the top of the screen - they can wish us happy valentines, but can't be bothered to control the boards! | skinny
14/2/2023 08:15 | Morning, Freezing mist/fog here this morning. Not sure why UPGS is beeing hammered so far ,the update didn't look bad to me. | malcolm caton
14/2/2023 07:46 | Morning All. Out all day yesterday with family until late so didn't get any chance to look at the screen. Looks like my lot gained in the region of +0.12% on the day so quite happy with that. Lovely day out yesterday although the sun never managed to properly break through down on the Jurassic Coast, it stayed a bit misty out on the sea and there was quite a chilly breeze. Ended the day with a walk around the Rings near Corfe Castle then dinner in an old pub in the village which was really nice. Facetime call from my sister in law in Australia just as we arrived home which was nice. She's moving into a "lifestyle Living" place next month having found the beautiful home (she shared with my brother until his passing) was getting a bit much for her. Sorry to hear of the ailments on here, I think many of us are getting to "that age". Hope everyone gets sorted out soon. | mrphil
13/2/2023 17:48 | On phone near Edinburgh at short notice with limited function. About +0.3%? Sunny but cold except for lunch. 8C? Will report more Weds. | aleman
13/2/2023 17:20 | I'm up +0.708% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.827%). Best rises: ULVR +3.13%, VOD +2.09% and RKT +2.08%. Worst falls: TW. -3.00%, BT.A -1.40% and BP. -0.46%. A sudden late rise from VOD, with two price monitoring extensiojns, due to a big stake being bought by Liberty Global "Acquires 4.92% Interest in Vodafone". ULVR and RKT rising in sympathy with each other, I guess. Spper ready, must dash. Nice day about freezing at first but sunny all day. DF | deanforester
13/2/2023 17:05 | Finished flat on day, builders and small caps held me back.Worst faller XLM, | malcolm caton
13/2/2023 17:02 | I finished up 0.34%. The sun stayed out for the most part with a high @11C. | skinny
13/2/2023 16:57 | Decent start to the week, up 0.85% KITW/VLX/NG doing well with no substantial fallers. Noted that the auditors have resigned at MJH - they really became unstuck last year when they raised money for "expansion" but in reality it looks like because they were swimming in debt and had an excessive LTIP that caused the CFO to inflate the figures. Was a medium sized holding of mine that I wrote off when the shares were suspended last year. I'd love to see a prosecution for fraud at the end of it, but the more you swindle the lower the penalties. Looking back it was a red flag that all the directors apart from the CFO took part in the fund raising. Presumably knew then it was going to end badly. Something to watch out for. …. .... | dr biotech
13/2/2023 16:56 | Portfolio +0.99% , just VOD, BP and UPGS in the red. Best gainers ULVR, BATS, DGE, ESNT, NICL, RKT, SMIN, VSVS, WEIR and WTB. Glorious sunny, blue sky day 13C . Finished raking the drive and did some more pruning. Lunch outside on the patio. Thought the new BBC drama 'The Gold' made a good start last night. Chicken and bacon pie for dinner :-) Dr B, I was listening on the radio a week ago about that new way to do your homework . Whatever next ? ;-) | philanderer
13/2/2023 16:41 | Folio +0.15%, [FTSE All-Share +0.72%] Not the best of starts. BA., BERI, BHP, the best. XLM, IGR, UPGS, worst fallers, all from the smallcaps stable. As I failed to increase my SOS investment in the recent fundraising, took a very small 'starter' position in BOO. Temp 10C, sunny since mid morning. | blueliner
13/2/2023 10:38 | Morning everyone. Late on parade. Ending up watching the whole Superbowl game ending after 3am :-) A beautiful day out there. | philanderer
13/2/2023 10:01 | Good morning. A lovely bright & sunny start to the day here, feeling much warmer than the 8C indicated. | skinny
13/2/2023 09:09 | Morning. Blue skies and a sunny start weather wise. portfolio a red start to week. | malcolm caton
12/2/2023 16:41 | Can't they just automatically block anyone using Tina and Doyle in same damn message?? They can block foul language. Be surprised if they actually get any takers! | carpingtris
12/2/2023 03:19 | Fortunarely Ifollow refused to work and I missed watching the awful game at Wigan. There's a good chance the Terriers will now be facing The Bantams next year and probably The Magpies the season after. | kiwi2007 |
