Freddie, don't worry ZOO ended the day on exactly the price I managed so nothing lost!

SIPP managed +0.21% with top risers CTO, FUM & BRCI although to be fair ZOO would have taken top spot had I not sold half my remaining holding. Not so good for the pot with -0.53% solely due to AMS

Meeting of the local SOC this evening. I see the New Forest Triumph run is on 29th April this year, wonder if we can beat last year's 200+ cars?

A high of just 4.4°C today after 1.9°C last night. Yesterday was a glorious sunny day but we only saw just over 5°C

Aleman - You say Bitcoin are correlating with stockmarkets now, but it's only the UK market which is down, S&P 500, Dax, and France are all up. Brexit blues I guess.

Cryptocurrencies having a bad day after more news of clampdowns in China on mining operations. Bitcoin has fallen from $15500 to 13700 in about 40 minutes and was already falling before that. Oddly, Bitcoin seems to be correlating with stockmarkets in recent days.

After a brief interlude thanks to Trump tax cuts, the US yield curve is slowly flattening again. 10-years minus 2-years is down to 0.51%. UK and US yield curves both suggest a bank rate cut is needed, yet consensus is for rises in 2018.

I don't think Melbourne have seen anything beyond the norm, my brother was expecting around 38°C when we spoke just before the New Year but that's nothing exceptional for them - we saw 42°C a couple of times when we were there over Christmas a couple of years back.

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology start their records AFTER the Federation Drought of 1895-1902, for which there is plenty of data. Temperatures recorded then were higher. The extreme summer of 1939 seems to have been adjusted down. It's easy to break heat records if you remove old hot data or adjust it down.

Great Lakes ice is 29.5%. It's usually around 12% a week into January. The Great lakes were often cited to evidence of global warming yet they seem to have been gently cooling since 2000 (with 2018 now very likely to be well above average for ice) and low water levels have recovered to well above average.

Mr P , relented & also got rid of my LCG on Fri for .40p but my trade has not been displayed. Can only assume there's activity under the radar so to speak.
At least will be able to put the not insignificant loss against 2017/18 CGT bill.

Morning All.

Bit of a shock to the system getting up early for work this morning! Didn't think it would still be pitch dark on the way in, but I guess we need clear skies to get the mornings brighter!

Got rid of LCG this morning, really shouldn't have dithered on that one as they fell a further 60% or so from when I was first tempted to sell them. Managed to get shot of them before they became completely worthless but it was still an expensive experience, around twice the loss of CLLN last year!

Morning all, I am hopeful that yesterday's weather-inspired optimism extends to the market's today. It looks like a mildly Blue start so fingers crossed. :-)

Yesterday's sunshine provided the motivation for a 46 mile winter epic, which is a great start to my cycling calendar and has put a smile back on my face after storm Eleanor curtailed most of last week's riding. The warm sunshine felt so much milder than the forecast 2 degrees and it is nice to see some of the trails and bridleways starting to dry out.

bl - well done, Magpies, and good luck with the draw. We had a few injuries but I think the reason we played badly was the joint-chairman saying a win would fund an extra transfer window signing after suggestions of four planned. That threatens the future of half the team. Why would anyone try hard if a win makes it more likely you might lose you your place!? It is not usually good when owners like being in the papers and our joint owners had a German film crew follow them around for the first year.
