Catchy name:

Or you could call it a "florput".

I'm going to order one! Kids are always shoving stuff behind radiators. How big is yours, Skinny? :-)

No idea Skinny, but it looks a great piece of kit!

Opened down, today, but still managed a recovery to +0.3% so the positive runs continues.

A horrible day. A gentle southerly carrying a very fine drizzle through the slowly lifting fog. Shame it didn't lift the temperature. 3.2C after 1.9C. All the frost has gone but ice still lingers in puddles and ponds.

My SIPP finished down 0.09%.

I bought this tool about 25 years ago from a stall on Chichester market - does anyone have any idea what it is called? It's useful if you drop something small - like a screw - down the back of or under a unit/cupboard.

I'm up +0.282% on teh day today (FTSE100 +0.448%).

Best rises: S32 +2.57%, MKS +2.41% and BT.A +2.11%.

Worst falls: CLLN -12.65%, UU. -3.67% and NG. -1.61%.

Retailers are moving around a bit as results come out. Morrison's today, Tesco and M&S on Thursday. A bad day for utilities. CLLN gave up some of yesterday's rise after its RNS saying "we know nuffink". Taylor Wimpey have an update tomorrow. UU. are currently top of my top-up list, MrP.

Took Mrs DF to the Skin Clinic this morning. To her surprise they removed her mole on the spot. It took 20 minutes. Why can't the NHS offer such a service? Worth paying for.

+3°C cloudy and misty this morning, with no wind. It hasn't changed much all day.

Looking at the picture of the "new" Cabinet its hard not to get depressed. Is that really the best we can do? There is a lot of academic research which says that any management team greater than 8 becomes dysfunctional so how on earth is a team of 30 meant to work? They would be much better off doing what any sane multinational would do and break it up into seven bite size chunks with a Cabinet Minister in charge of each.
Money, Trade,Security,Education, Environment,Health. Local Government Not difficult is it!!The whole system is about 2 centuries out of date.

Haven't heard any news yet today but I'm guessing the cabinet reshuffle has given Corbynites hope again?

SIPP -0.25% UU., NG. & SSE but the pot managed to buck the trend with +0.52% thanks to AMS, LLOY & SGC

Need to catch up on Silent Witness this evening.

Skinny, it was a toss up between UU., SSE or NG. but I'm still watching the other two with interest! I did get a FIT payment of 8p last week from SSE and when I queried it I got the impression it was to make up for an error they had made on all FIT accounts. That was a bit of a concern, although I guess as it was only 8p it won't crucify them. A lot of admin though!

spittingbarrel, that must be great fun! With time constraints and work commitments, motorboating suits us for the time being although I do get out occasionally on a friends "own built" 31ft yacht which was designed by the designer of Sigma yachts. We love the tranquillity of sailing and I suspect we may go that route once retirement beckons, although we'll have to see how my back is holding out by then! I'm very tempted to get a small sailing dinghy but we hardly get time for the motorboat so I'm not sure we'd get full use of it.

MRPHIL - Yes Falmouth is a beautiful area to sail in, I sail a 505, more kicks for me than a big cruiser (less maintenance too!).

I'm looking at SSE again - around £13 again - ex-dividend on the 18th.

No I couldn't! That puts them back up into third largest holding behind BP. & LLOY, and should add to the dividend pot.

Got our gas and electric bill for an extended Q4 period from mid-Sept to year end that had 3 colder than average months . It looked slightly highish at a glance so I checked estimated readings. They are well underestimated and should have had another 1/4 on! We can afford it but I'll bet some other consumers that are struggling will be in for a shock.

Falmouth is somewhere we would like to get to in our boat one of these years. We've been as far as Salcombe and had quite an experience coming back in heavy weather with something like 10ft waves as we exited the harbour - couldn't turn back as that would have put us straight into the waves! I would never have attempted it had I realised how rough it would be outside the harbour, but by then we were committed and thankfully the boat was fantastic and we lived to tell the tale!

Oh I see, so they are technically now his property! Sounds like we need to keep our eyes open for the property coming on the market!

MRPHIL - The foreshore where the boats have been dumped is actually privately owned, but the owner is very old (and a bit simple) and doesn't want to get involved so legally it's quite difficult for us local residents to do much about it.

spittingbarrel, have you tried talking to the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners to see if they are able to trace the owners? Failing that, it might be worth just having a word with Boatbreakers (or someone more local) to get an idea of costs and maybe you could club together with neighbours?

MRPHIL - No not just dinghies, close to the bottom of our garden there are 4 small cruisers dumped all around 25-30' and they'll clearly never sail again. Quite an eyesore.

Aleman, recruitment companies seem to have gone a bit quieter so I'm guessing there are not so many looking, which is interesting as supposedly 69% of people have "looking for a new job" as one of their New Year resolutions!

Think I should see four dividends this week; NG., GSK, PETS & TEF so that should help things along a bit. Income for the SIPP last year ended around 2.5% which was marginally up on 2016 but I would like to try and get it a bit higher still.

The UK economic news is so conflicting. The last employment figures were received as bad and then you get this:
