Interesting times. Strangely although I was hoping for a large Tory majority at the outset I dont feel too dissapointed by the result. Tory campaign was truly dreadful and deserved the result. It exposed Teresa May as unfit for the job and better that be found out now than in several years time. Meanwhile the SNP fox has been truly shot and Independence kicked into the long grass for a generation. I strongly believe in the UK so that is an excellent result. UKIP probably damaged beyond repair as well. I think David Davis would be my choice for PM. What do others think?

I think the political commentators are reading the election results wrong, I believe the Tories did badly because of their domestic policies and nothing to do with BREXIT.
Personally, as a Scot, delighted to see the SNP getting a bloody nose in Scotland, there will be no independence referendum now.

Good Morning.

In the words of Jammie Lawson - I was expecting that!

A worrying 6/7.

I get the feeling the vote might backfire ...
... I think the result might be less predictable than some seem to think. It's a risky gambit in my book.

Well done, Theresa. It was not necessary and now we'll all pay for it. The next few months will be "interesting".

+0.21% today. [FTSE250 +0.24%].

Highest value risers : BRSN +10%, MCLS +2.6%, PFC +4.1%.

Worst value fallers : VOD -4.8%[xd], IMB -2.2%.

Last call for BRSN in the Folio as BoD recommended a sweetened takeover offer from Elis SA.
Sold the remainder of my holding today bought in 2008, if there is a downside BRSN wasn't an ISA stock and therefore materially affects my CGT allowance for this tax year.

Actually up for a change today. +0.44% with ICP being the largest value riser. KAZ also put in a good show. ISAT is the largest value faller. Risers outpace fallers by a ration of just over 2:1.

I need another good day tomorrow otherwise I will be facing my worst weekly turnout since 8th July last year.

I am hoping for a high turnout DF, as it will hopefully minimise any upset from the fringe parties which put us in this mess in the first place. Fingers crossed.

I'm down just -0.090% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.383%).

Worst falls: VOD -4.8% XD, IMI -2.19% and DGE -1.93%.

Best rises: RIO +1.82%, CLLN +1.55% and BLT +1.07%.

Just watching Sri Lanka and India on my PC. Picture quality poor, despite having 51Mbps download speed. Must be too many soaking out of SkyGo.

Our polling station has been very busy. As we are rock-solid Conservative, I'm not sure what to read into that.

+0.2%.

Wet morning. Cloudy afternoon. Sunny now. Wind meant it did not feel warm despite 20.9C after 11.2C last night.

After US, UK and India, we now have Australia, Japan and South Africa seeing lower GDP than expected. The last 3 are heavily export dependent, suggesting a possible global slowdown?

-0.18% for me today. Scratching my head over the poor showing for RPC which, on the surface, released good results. It is easily the largest value faller. APF is today's largest value riser.

Thanks, bl. A 20%+ fall in new rents suggests that the small bricks and mortar retail sector is in a very bad way.

This article reiterates what I said the other day about the yield curve. The Fed needs to consider cutting soon to push long rates back up or there could be quite a lot of trouble.

+0.05% for the Folio. [FTSE250 +0.21%]

Highest value riser : BGO +9.6%, GVC +1.8%.
Worst value faller : SDV -4%.

Aleman re Shoezone, 'they generally take short leases on units with low fit out costs, therefore avoiding the risks of being lumbered with highly rented stores and no means of exiting the lease. Therefore Shoe Zone can be opportunistic and take advantage of cheap empty shop units. Note that rents on lease renewal fell by 21.4%'. acknowledgement to Paul Scott Stockopedia blogger. Hope this helps.

Mr P, I have had this Retail Bond calculation/valuation peculiarity arise on ADVFN portfolio previously, there seemed to be no way round it, which was annoying.

Fargo on tonight.

I will vote tomorrow and I will give my vote to the Tories despite a quite dreadful campaign. Mrs May should have won the election easily, she should fire her advisers and those responsible for the manifesto. If it's a hung parliament I can't see the government lasting too long.

A negligible rise for me today.

It was a bright day with occasional sunshine but a hefty wind which brought lots of twigs/small branches down. Much better than yesterday's cold and damp, though. 18.7C after 10.0C overnight.

I keep saying I'm not going to vote ... then I see someone on TV and decide to do my best make sure they don't get in. So far I've decide at some point that I want to vote for all the parties to try keep all of the others out and also vote for nobody since they are all horrible. Quite a few voters on radio shows have said the same. It's amazing that being in or out of Europe could be decided on this yet many don't want to vote to give them mandates for all their other garbage.

spittingbarrel, yes your numbers are dead right, the problem lies with the way advfn have set up the share price but they are now looking in to it, so hopefully it will get sorted.

I see HL are pushing another new investment trust

MRPHIL - I don't use the ADFN portfolio so I wouldn't know, but the numbers I quoted are correct.
