23/2/2017 15:33 | Plenty of fences down here - daughter in Northampton says that the police are appealing for anyone with chain saws etc, to help with fallen trees. | skinny
23/2/2017 15:31 | Bit blustery again now and temperature dropped markedly. Can see it bringing a few branches down. Hope nobody else has any worse. An estimated 189,000 Romanians registered National Insurance Numbers last year. That's ridiculous enough without adding in some non-working spouses and children. Call it 220k? Estimate was 30-70k per year for 5 years. | aleman
23/2/2017 12:07 | Most of the recent slight downward revisions in S&P earnings can just about be accounted for by modest $ strength over the last few weeks ... so it could easily reverse a bit. That makes the increased p/e ratings only a little less worrisome. | aleman
23/2/2017 11:50 | Stay out of the way of that stuff, Skinny! Calmer here. I think we must about be near the centre, with stronger northwesterlies to follow in a while. Temperature creeping up again to 7C+. Recent gusts of 50-60mph all across Wales and England to the south of Yorkshire. | aleman
23/2/2017 11:41 | Garden table and chairs and a chiminea all moved about 8 feet up the patio in one massive gust of wind. | skinny
23/2/2017 11:26 | CBI Realized Sales 9 5 -8 | skinny
23/2/2017 10:40 | Morning Very lively outside, up to 64mph gust recorded EM Airport. Plenty of travel disruptions already. When wind due to back WNW then will get full blast here up to 70mph, not pleasant. Barclays results well received, customer not shareholder. | blueliner
23/2/2017 10:31 | Latest gusts 40-50mph over most of England. Much higher in North Wales with 94mph recorded recently. Looks like the worst is still to come. The suggestion is the worst will head from North Wales to East Anglia so we might miss it with a bit of luck. Watch out, blueliner. The temperature here has eased back to 6C so it feels chilly with that strong wind. | aleman
23/2/2017 10:21 | Good results from BA. and BATS this morning. BA. increased their dividend by 2% and rose about 2.6%, while BATS increased theirs by 10% and remained unchanged, after some tart's drawers movements. There is no justice. +8°C this morning, with frequent showers, but the sun is now out and it looks gusty still. Wetherspoons for a curry today. DF | deanforester
23/2/2017 09:54 | US Bank cards see a 9% rise in defaults in one month. I would imagine the hit to bank balance sheets could be significant if it is not just a blip. Of course, this was yesterday's bad news and markets just ignored it again. | aleman
23/2/2017 09:44 | Morning, all. Moderate winds here so far but we do get an occasional gust up to maybe 35-40mph. We've just had some light sleet. I don't think this will bring our flowers out. (We did see some crocuses up around the North York Moors so I presume their winter has not been as grey as ours.) Still plenty of warnings/misses in the US including L. Brands (again) and Jack in the Box. Not much in the UK, although I see HSD cut their dividend. | aleman
22/2/2017 21:32 | My Sipp finished up 0.23%. I've been out with a couple of mates tonight and the main point of conversation was the | skinny
22/2/2017 18:44 | -0.16% yesterday in which HSBA did all the damage. +0.13% today [FTSE250 -0.50%] SRP down -19% probably didn't help, no holding. Highest value risers : CSN +4.3%, HSBA +2.1%, LLOY +4.4%, SDV +1.4%. Worst value fallers : BLT -2.7%, HICL -1.7%, ALAI -1.3%, PHTM -2.7%. Amber warning of 50-80 mph winds in this region tomorrow, which is exceptional, structural damage likely. Just as well I had the eaves felts, facias, sofits etc replaced last summer. | blueliner
22/2/2017 17:26 | -0.1%. Took kids to Saltburn near Middlesbrough. The Woodland walk there is lovely but a walk on the pier saw us nearly blown away. A check with the Met Office shows 32mph and gusting to 49mph around lunch, which was about right, and that was without storm Doris's arrival! We came back via Staithes for the kids to see "Old Jack's Boat" filming territory. 11.9C after 6.2C. | aleman
22/2/2017 17:26 | I'm up +0.121% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.377%). Best rises: ULVR +5.7%, LLOY +4.4% and RB. +2.2%. Worst falls: INDV -6.6%, BLT -2.7% and IMI -1.8%. Good reaction to LLOY results today. INDV had a sharp fall on concerns over litigation. No dividend. BA. and BATS tomorrow. ULVR has now recovered from the fall after Kraft Heinz broke it off. DF | deanforester
22/2/2017 17:21 | Another good day with LLOY working it's magic. +0.31% for the SIPP with additional helpers ALD & GSK and +0.91% for the pot where it was joined by RR. & LGEN Who Do You Think You Are followed by the Real Marigold Hotel tonight but I suspect both will get recorded as it's a trek to Sainsbury's to spend the next voucher then round to eldest son so he can put the child seats in the Jag ready for a trip to Monkey World with the grandkids tomorrow! Wonder if we'll bring the right ones home?! | mrphil
22/2/2017 09:51 | I think HSBA should be on the list? | skinny
22/2/2017 09:48 | Just GSK to look forward to off that list, but worth having! | mrphil
22/2/2017 09:32 | GBP Second Estimate GDP q/q 0.7% 0.6% 0.6% | skinny
22/2/2017 09:00 | German Ifo Business Climate 111.0 109.6 109.8 | skinny
22/2/2017 08:16 | Good results from BDEV too this morning with increased dividend to go with the special dividend from LLOY! | mrphil |
