Well I was happy buying at 7.99! Now just waiting for signs of stability before adding. A good yield, good investment, good quality company.

Srpactive,

I am confused by your post, sorry.

You said you initially were interested because of a friend but now you are interested yourself.

When asked if you were long or short. you didn't answer neither yet. you posted Long.

Now you state that you still do not hold????

Arf Dysg,

Your prerogative to disagree with Uty. But TM for all her faults got more seats than JC. She is the PM and everyone should rally round her hoping she does a good job for the Country as a whole. She has a position.

I tend to agree with the majority that the BBC are biased and do interview Left Wing politicians with a favourable demeanour whilst when interviewing Government ministers the interviewers are often rude, interrupting and disrespectful.
Let’s not forget who is in Government and the Marx Bros are not, they are just thugs who one day will be found out by all for what they are.

"Despite protestations on how many voted etc,"

"protestations" ? I do hope I haven't told any untruths.

"the fact remains the Labour Party won less seats than the Conservatives."

That is true. However, both major parties got a long way less than 50% of the votes, therefore they're both in the minority. They both seem to believe that they're in the right, yet clearly don't have the absolute power which they deserve, so if they just happened to have a siege mentality, being in the minority would only make it worse.

"The BBC a National broadcaster should reflect the views of the majority seats in Parliament."

There is no majority of seats either!!

In the typical general election, turnout is 60%, typically 40% of those vote for the winner, so the winner has only 40% x 60% = 24% of the electorate voting for them. Supporting the winner means ignoring 76% of the electorate's opinions.

I'm going to disagree with you on what the BBC should do. The government has plenty of spokesmen and spokeswomen to put their case, and many newspapers, internet channels, radio stations and TV stations are available to them. We don't need the national broadcaster doing the same thing.

I would hope that broadcasters give ALL parties an equally hard time. As it happens, I am thoroughly fed up with people (politicians AND journalists) trying to shout over each other, and (often) each person trying to force the other person to say/admit something (fact/opinion) which he is clearly not going to say. Those sort of tactics just destroy the interview and make me lose all respect for the journalist and the politician.

Those in power ALWAYS think that everybody is against them.

I believe that the vote for the Conservatives at the last election was 40% or less (not 40% of the *population*, not even 40% of the *electorate*, but 40% of those who bothered to vote).

Similarly the vote for the Labour party was 40% or less.

The figure "40% or less" applies to the vast majority of elections over the last few decades.

In other words, whether Labour or the Tories get in, they are supported by a minority of those who voted, a smaller minority of the electorate and an EVEN SMALLER minority of the whole population.

Ergo, whoever is in power is in a minority, and will think that the entire country (including, for example, the BBC) is against them. This is partly because power makes one paranoid, but also factual as those in power are always a minority.

The BBC will become positive when their beloved LP
win the next election, can you not see how left
they are?

I agree and resent being forced to pay a license fee for what has become predictably biased news from the BBC based on their own agenda. There should be a choice on whether to pay the license fee to watch the BBC or not imo.

Little annoyed at BBC TEXT on OFGEMs announcement this morning regarding Electricity Retail Prices for vulnerable people.

The correct report on the business section states that the vulnerable population has been extended to incorporate another 1 million people ( the vulnerable are those on pre-payment meters), with the good news that the initial cap will save over £65 off bills but due to legacy issues and rising prices / costs in the short term, this might be offset a with a £55 rise. But this is purely down to already agreed increased costs.

BBC TEXT starts with prices will increase by over £55 for vulnerable customers with a slight reduction later from April. When will the BBC stop sounding so glum as if they are promoting bad news and depression!

Our State broadcasting corporation are world leaders at focusing on the negative only!

I have added more this morning - NG is now my largest individual holding. Just hoping that it won't suffer with regulation as much as the other utilities. I think its in a better position as it can't really lose customers, not as if you can use an alternative carrier.

Must admit I am hurting this week. Think I am £35k down overall in the last two weeks, and thats painful.

Bounty,

Yeh, based on the ADR finish in the US, the shares should rise back up to £7.62 ish but that is following logic and we all know there doesn't appear to be any logic just now.

What will be a game changer is OFGEM's final decision in the Spring (March?)and NG's response to their 'Exploring other Options' statement.

In the meantime, the divi is something that cannot be overlooked possibly why Srpactive is now looking interested?????

Srpactive,

I hope your personal interest is positive? Are you thinking of exploiting your interest long or short?

Let's hope we can get through Feb without too much negative volatility :)

There will be a bounce tomorrow due to the US
markets bouncing 700pts after our close.

Then the 750p level needs to hold if retested
at a later date, if it does great if not
680p, aimho, dyor.

Yes looking for a friend to start with but quite
interested myself now.

If interest rates get anywhere near 3% in the next few years I cannot see property prices increasing probably the opposite. So a 6% yield looks like a good buy to me but as shares usually overshoot on the down side maybe a further fall thought I had a bargain at £8.30 .

I always thought having a infrastructure to carry and deliver the product around the country. These must be very cheap by now.
