No problem if you disagree, most
investors are far more intelligent than me
which I also accept.

Srpactive,

You can't use charts with this stock. Its completely dependent in part on whether the marker turns defensive and to some degree, the strength of the dollar.

Looking at charts for this stock is purely insight

Someone mentioned quality to Karl Marx, and he replied, "Quantity has a quality all of its own."

If 816p holds if tested they could be correct, lets
hope so.

RE JC and JM, they are far from clowns, their movement
has got to where it is certainly not by chance,
not that I support it, just very scared of it, dyor.

Thks Newbank for correcting the spelling of Marx as in the Marx Bros😂. I would like this term to be used constantly and hope it goes viral. After all, McDonnell has admitted to being a Marxist so it is not derogatory! Maybe if Corbyn and McDonnell are addressed by what they are, the Marx Bros, a connotation of being a pair of (political) comedy idiots, people will start to realise what they are about.

BTW Morgan have just issued an Overweight rating on NG with a target price of £11.00👍;

If you hold in sipp or isa 15 percent tax charge applies no custody fees with aj bell
Still better than letting the marks brothers getting their hands on our cash.

jonwig - Custody fees are significantly higher holding costs too. Back to the drawing board

ianood - I think the only difference with ADRs is that you'd pay extra US withholding tax on divis.

Spacecake - a few shareholders would be in that position, and I guess a dual listing is possible.

Sorry if this has been asked, but if the company is split and the US part listed in the US will uk holder get the option of holding US stock and if so what happens if my broker does not allow overseas holdings ?

Thanks

Should we be buying the ADRs as they may provide a better layer of protection?

Likewise. I've doubled up in my SIPP and am happy to sit and take the divi and see what happens for the next 18 years before retirement.

I have also loaded up my isa and sipp at these levels require the dividends to fund lifestyle, very happy to take the risk of the USA listing and the profits it will bring.
Why would the management not list the USA business was the question I asked myself before doubling my holding last week.

wskill - that was the reason I bought last week. I'm ready to think they'll split in two irrespective of the political situation.

With 70 percent of ng. In the USA jc will not be able to nationalise the largest part of the company it would have to be floated off, might be good news for us shareholders as it will be highly rated and with a USA listing.

...not to mention the national debt (will they even bother with forecasts for this) or the money available to fund the NHS!
...oh I forgot the solution is higher taxes + junk bonds followed by rampant inflation ;)

Tax on business and the wealthy would pay for JC's £200 billion spending. Lol.This would impact everyone including jobs.

Oh No It Won't! [Oh Yes It Will.]

A Labour government will issue new gilts as compensation, with a maturity period of [dunno] and a coupon equal to the gilts yield on the day they put it into their manifesto - say 2%. The low yield will be explained by the greater safety of holding public sector assets as opposed to the greedy and unsafe private sector (like Carillion). On the day they enter government, gilt yields will - mysteriously - rise to around 10% and the capital loss suffered by holders will be blamed on greedy speculators.

The brave new world of Labour economics.

From today's Sunday Telegraph"The analysis, conducted by Daniel Mahoney, formerly a senior researcher to Lord Lawson, states that Labour's plans to nationalise the energy sector would cost more than £55.4?billion, while a buy-out of the water industry would amount to £86.25?billion, in addition to another £4.5? billion to bring Royal Mail into public ownership."

"National Grid has contingency plans in place for all its projects with Carillion, using alternative suppliers if necessary. We believe that these plans mean we will be able to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
